Wolverine’s newest weapon is the perfect solution to Marvel’s healing factors, and the first person he uses it on is his greatest foe. InWolverine: Revenge #2, Logan begins his warpath against the Brotherhood following the events of the first issue. Partnering with X-Men ally Forge, Logan first hunts down Mastermind and kills him before moving on tosettle the score with Sabretooth. However, he requires Forge’s assistance to build the right tool for the job.

In the issue,Wolverine rides out into the desert on a motorcycle to meet Sabretooth, and Creed quickly gains the upper hand in the fight. Logan is quick to counter, stabbing Sabretooth in the chest. That’s when it becomes clear this isn’t like their previous fights.

wolverine negates sabretooth’s healing

Sabretooth quickly realizes that his stab wound isn’t healing, which prompts Logan to reveal that the motorcycle was built by Forge, and thatthe headlamp has a power-neutralizer built into it. Having been bathed in the light while bantering with Logan, Sabretooth can no longer rely on his healing factor, while Wolverine’s remains intact. A defiant Sabretooth continues his fight with Wolverine, despite knowing that he’ll die fighting Logan without his healing factor.

With the damage already done, Wolverine isn’t fighting to save the day - he just wants bloody, permanent revenge on the villains who crossed him.

Wolverine’s Son Debuts Permanent Redesign, Combining New Powers with His Most Iconic Costume

Wolverine Has Nailed the One Tactic That Can Kill Sabretooth

Now He Needs to Use It on an Even Bigger Marvel Name

Logan’s biggest victories over Sabretooth have always resulted from him negating his enemy’s healing factor. In 2007’sWolverine: Evolution(from Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi), Wolverine slew Sabretooth with the Muramasa Blade, a mystical blade which reduces the effectiveness of healing factors. More recently, during theFall of Xcrossover event,Logan killed the real Sabretoothwith another version of the iconic weapon.

The version of Sabretooth killed inWolverine: Evolutionwas later retconned as a clone, making Logan eventually taking down the real deal with the same weapon incredibly satisfying. The Muramasa Blade is no random weapon - it’s a sword forged from Wolverine’s rage, cutting at the molecular level.

The loss of Sabretooth’s healing factor in this fight, as well as his assured death at the hands of Wolverine, brings a violent end to their history. And with his oldest grudge officially behind him, Wolverine is free to settle his more recent grievances with the Brotherhood. Hopefully, Logan is able to hold onto Forge’s neutralizer, becauseone of the deadliest names on his list is Deadpool- a vicious mercenary who will be a challenge forWolverineeven with his healing factor negated.

Wolverine

The human mutant Wolverine (a.k.a. Logan) was born James Howlett, blessed with a superhuman healing factor, senses, and physiology. Subjecting himself to experimentation to augment his skeleton and claws with adamantium, Logan is as deadly as he is reckless, impulsive, and short-tempered. Making him the X-Men’s wildest and deadliest member, and one of Marvel Comics' biggest stars. He’s played in Fox and Marvel’s movie franchises by Hugh Jackman.
