Daredevil: Born Againepisodes 5 and 6 will be released together on Disney+ on March 25, with Marvel Television having good reason for the double drop. Theending ofDaredevil: Born Againepisode 4featured a lot of big teases for the show’s future, including the return of the titular hero and his arch-nemesis. As Matt was shown practicing his billy club skills on the roof above his apartment, Wilson Fisk was shown falling back into his Kingpin-esque ways after the reveal thatDaredevil: Born Again’s mysterious Adamwas his prisoner.

This teased big events forDaredevil: Born Againepisode 5, but audiences will be treated to a double drop on March 25.Daredevil: Born Againepisodes 5 and 6will be released on Disney+ together at the show’s usual time, allowing us to witness the next two installments of Matt’s journey back-to-back. This is the first time sinceDaredevil: Born Againepisodes 1 and 2that two entries of the show have been released together, begging the question of why Marvel Television made this change.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Release Schedule Has Ignored Convention

The Show Is Changing Things Up

Firstly, it is worth noting thatDaredevil: Born Again’s release schedule is slightly different from those of Marvel’s past. Outside of season premieres or finales, Marvel has rarely released more than one episode at a time for its live-actionDisney+ MCU TV shows. This means thatDaredevil: Born Againis breaking the mold with episodes 5 and 6, ignoring release conventions.

The reason for this is likely the original plan for the show before it was overhauled.Daredevil: Born Againwas initially planned as an 18-episode season, with the overhaul turning nine of those into season 1 and the other nine into season 2. To fit this new two-season format, some changes have been made since the overhaul took place. One is reformatting the story so that there are some less-serialized, standalone entries.Daredevil: Born Againepisode 5 is one such entry, meaning it was released alongside episode 6 as a two-parter.

The Story Calls For A Big Two Parts

From a more storytelling standpoint,Daredevil: Born Againepisodes 5 and 6 need to be released together to sell the impact of the story.Daredevil: Born Againepisode 5 would likely be undervalued if released on its own given its nature as a bottle episode, yet episode 6 changes this. As a two-part story, they work much better than if they were released individually a week apart.

The reason for this is the big turning point that is currently happening in the story. As alluded to, Daredevil and Kingpin are close to giving in to their violent natures and clashing once more, withDaredevil: Born Againepisodes 5 and 6 almost typifying these changes. Together, they work to propel the story into its final three episodes, which arguably would not have been as effective had Marvel Television released them one at a time.
