For eons,the Plath kids were raised in captivity, dreaming of freedom that they could never really enjoy. It was more like a prison. Plath kids, barred from everyday pleasures like occasional sweet treats and TV, had to toe the line to get any love at all.

Now,Veronica, an educated womanwith a good head on her shoulders, must deal with her potential in-laws-to-be. The thing is, that might not even be about religion. It could be about money.
Veronica has a good career going. She sells luxury homes and some of her commissions likely earn her hundreds of thousands of dollars. This family isn’t as innocent or devout as it seems. Kim can be quite mercenary sometimes.
Then, there’sWelcome to Plathville’s Barry Plath, who was right there with his wife, making sure the kids got subpar educations and were shielded from culture in all of his dazzling, thought-provoking and diverting forms. Micah doesn’t like the fact that he wasn’t on a level playing field with other kids - his dad is partially to blame.
Yes, Barry seems milder and kinder than Kim, but Kim says he’s the one who really wanted those Christian rules followed. Maybe she’s telling the truth. Look how different her life after Barry is. She’s like an animal that’s been let out of a cage.

She’s dating former male model Micah, who didn’t need a ton of smarts to make money with his looks. Yes, he’s plenty bright, but he doesn’t know as much about the world as his partner, and this could become a problem. Micah probably loves the fact that Veronica is so intelligent. However, he may feel like he can’t keep up.
