The New Champion’s first official nemesisis shaking out to be far more chaotic than her namesake counterpart, starting with a complete subversion of Magneto’s classic magnetism, as Magnetrix instead wields the power of disruption.Magnetrix’s unique pink orbs appear to take on a more technology-based power and have been shown to act as EMPs, as seen when she disruptsthe synthezoid, Viv Vision. Though Magnetrix doesn’t possess Magneto’s exact powers, she may still hold the power of electromagnetism due to her displayed ability to disrupt Liberty’s communicator given to Monte inNew Champions#2.

With the introduction to a new age of heroes, there was bound to be a villain sooner or later. Enter Magnetrix, the New Champions' version of Magneto!

On top of Magnetrix’s distinctive abilities, she is shown to be far more aware of her villainy than Magneto, with Magnetrix even mentioning she wants to “make some good people feel real bad.” WhileMagneto’s goals were radical, his motives were always in the name of helping mutant-kind whereas Magnetrix’s goals appear more chaos-driven. Her chaotic villainy is on full display when she breaks Psycho-Man out of prison to emotionally manipulate the Champions and the New Champions into fighting each other on a live stream. These sentiments are further driven home by her manipulation and mistreatment of her Doctor Strange-inspired boyfriend, Monte.

Magnetrix takes clear inspiration from Magneto, however, when a prison guard brings up their similarities, the new up-and-coming villainadmits she isn’t a fan of Magneto and her attire is mainly based on the fact she likes Magneto’s helmet.While Magnerix has an immoral disposition and is still shrouded in mystery, it’s divulgedher origins are linked to Hydraas Liberty points out she remembers a girl with similar powers in the Hydra base.There is the possibility that Magnetrix was influenced by Hydra like the New Champions and many other heroes.
