Visions of Manamarks the latest release in the returningManaseries, roping new and familiar foes into the ring like the Grapplavine. Though a returning enemy, the boss presents a formidable battle for those who’ve played past entries and newcomers alike. Dubbed the Weed boss, this vicious vine poses one of the greatest threats awaiting your party in Mylos Woods.

Grapplavine is a Level 22 boss wreaking havoc on the Verdeus Borough, first appearing in Chapter Four following Julei’s introduction. Weeding out this thorny opponent’s weaknesses is fairly intuitive, despite the apparentdrawbacks of the combat system. Even so, Grapplavine doesn’t keep its greatest tricks buried for long, so it’s best to enter battle with the right party members at the forefront to beat it.

Visions of Mana, the first Mana game in over 15 years, finally has a release date. Here’s a look at its characters, class-changing system, and story.

How To Beat Grapplavine

Uproot The Weed Boss With Fire & Slashing Attacks

Naturally,Visions of Mana’sGrapplavine boasts immunity to Wood Magic and resistance to water-based attacks. To level the playing field,it’s best to rely on Fire Magic and Slashing attacks, the boss' greatest weaknesses. Coupled with awareness of the main body’s weakest points and its vines' movements, it’s simple enough to cut Grapplavine down with effective attacks for a quick win, as seen inTrophygamers’s video on Youtube.

The boss fight can be broken down into two distinct phases, during whichGrapplavine will alter its stance and rely on different attacks to shake up your party’s defenses. At Level 22,it’s easily overpowered by a team of any threeVisions of Manacharactersbetween levels 23-25. While it’s possible to nip the boss fight in the bud on equal footing, the task can be tough without a strategy and a stash of health-restoring Candy.

Ahead of the Grapplavine boss battle, Morley’s sisters will be stationed in the borough. Check out the armor and weapons they’re selling to prep your party with better gear before the fight begins.

Boss Battle Phase One

When the fight against Grapplavine begins inVisions of Mana, the boss is firmly rooted in one place, relying on itsthorny vines and poisonous seedlingsto deal damage. Between roars, it alsobreathes a toxic gas, making it difficult to close the gap and attack the main body. Of course, this is exactly how to get the most out of your party members' attacks, so it’s important to focus on obstacles first.

Grapplavine’s seedlings are equipped with their own health bars;takingthem out is the key to attack the boss head-on. Between three fighters, beating these smaller enemies is the easy part; it’s the main body’s wild vines that can be tricky to avoid while clearing the battlefield. They’ll sprout from the ground anywhere ared area of effectappears, so it’s imperative to keep an eye out for incoming attacks.

Defeating all the seedling spawns will stun Grapplavine momentarily, lending you an opening to attack the boss directly. This is the best time togo for critical hits without risking damage. Just steer clear of its head as the Weed boss' health nears 50 HP, as it will prepare to unleash a new type of attack.

Boss Battle Phase Two

Once Grapplavine’s health bar is whittled down to half, it will flail its head around to damage your party, then uproot itself to maximize its mobility. From this point on,the main body will routinely launch itself at party members, encompassing a much larger area of effect than its seedlings. Again, targeted areas are highlighted in red, so speed and awareness are key in keeping teammates healthy and dealing consistent damage.

Moreover,Grapplavine will now release poison bombs. With that, reaching the main body is a lot trickier here, but keeping an eye out for these area attacks is enough to last the battle and deplete the boss' remaining HP, as demonstrated byTrophygamerson YouTube. Focus on dealing Fire and Slashing attacks to finish the job with ease.

Best Party Members To Beat The Grapplavine Boss

Val & Morley Make a Dynamic Duo

When it comes to taking down Grapplavine inVisions of Mana, the best fighters for the job are Val and Morley. Val is a fire-focused fighter with access to hard-hitting attacks and moves to help other party members. This makes him an obvious first pick for the battle. For the sake of this fight, both Liege and Weapons Master classes work well. His Flame Saber serves as the real bread and butter here, as this will maximize the damage dealt to Grapplavine by all party members.

To keep your party dealing as much damage as possible, cast Val’sFlame Saberon each of your party members and ensure that it’s active throughout the battle.

Apart fromVisions of Mana’sprotagonist, Morley is another top performer here. As a Nightblade, hisMoon Energy offers the greatest advantage with an increased critical hit rate. This pairs well with Val’s Flame Saber, but the party’s third member also has the potential to boost attack power.

Depending on personal preferences and playstyle, both Careena and Palamena make solid third members. Despite Grapplavine’s resistance to water,Palamena’s magic is still capable of dealing solid damage, thanks to Val. However,Careena is an underrated pick for the final spot, with access to a fire class strike as a Divine Fist. She’s fully equipped to deal buffs and debuffs, dishing attacks of her own and aiding the party.

With Val and Morley spearheading the team and either Palamena or Careena lending ample support, Grapplavine will wilt under fire.Victory will award 2,200 Lucre, a Grapplavine Core, and experience for all party members. Julei, one of the most valuable support characters inVisions of Mana, will also be unlocked as an ally and playable character.
