Chainsaw Manis finally entering its newest arc, pushing ever-closer to the finale of its methodical Part Two. While Denji and Asa have been pushed and pulled throughout the many conflicts lining the narrative,an invisible presence has loomed overChainsaw Man’s unfolding plot. The Death Devil, after being teased for nearly 100 chapters, has seeminglymade her grand entrance into the story. Said to bring humanity to its end the moment she appears, it’s likely the series will soon be entering its final climactic arc centered around fighting the final horseman.

However, she isn’t the only devil to have appeared. The most recent chapter #196, titled “Chainsaw Man to the Rescue!”, features the Death Devil failing to acclimate to school life, when a mysterious figure appears on the roof of the school. Dropping to the ground, the figure begins monologuing about bringing justice to the devils, before the dust clears and reveals a grotesque, monstrous version of Chainsaw Man.

The Appearance of Another Fake Chainsaw Man Raises Questions

The Latest Chainsaw Man Knock-Off Is Much Less Human in Appearance

During the Falling Devil arc, readers were given their first, albeit obstructed, view of the second Chainsaw Man teased earlier in Part Two. The mysterious impostor looked at least somewhat like Denji, but wielded chainsaws that were much longer than the titular hero’s weapons. Now, the latest Chainsaw Man knock-off revealed in chapter #196differs greatly in appearance from both Denji and the original Fake-saw Man, with a devilish bony appearance and fleshy chainsaws. Though the new impostor could have a number of possible identities, one would change the series as fans know it.

It’s likely, based on appearance, that the new Fake-saw Man is a different entity than the original. It could be the Justice Devil based on its repeated use of the word ‘justice’ upon appearing. The Fire Devil is another likely option, given that it played a role during the Chainsaw Man Church Arc but was never shown to the audience.Denji asked Yoruabout the Fire Devil’s whereabouts during chapter #192, to which she respondedhe would meet him when the Death Devil descends. Given Death’s introduction, the appearance of Fake-Saw #2 lends well to the notion that it’s Fire.

The Latest Chainsaw Man Impostor May Be an All-New Kind of Devil

There is also the possibility that the latest fake Chainsaw Man is a devil born from the public’s fears of Chainsaw Man. The series states that a concept feared in any way would have a devil counterpart representing that fear. Though fear of Pochita would only strengthen the Chainsaw Devil, fear of Denji could lead to a Chainsaw Man Devil, given Denji’s human nature. A development of this sort would change how devils' powers function, though the series hasn’t quite clarified the rules surrounding devils enough to be sure it’s possible.

I’ve Changed My Mind, Chainsaw Man Part 2 Is Actually Pretty Good

At long last, Chainsaw Man Part Two is finally fixing a major problem that has been plaguing the manga for months. Hopefully, this trend will last.

The true identity of the newest Chainsaw Man knock-off aside, it seems the series is gearing up fora showdown between the true Chainsaw Man and the shoddily put-together idea of him. The public’s misuse of Denji’s image has been a constant plot point throughout Part Two, and it seemsChainsaw Manis ready to reveal which version of the hero is strongest in its next battle. Until then, however, an incredibly powerful and terrifying Death Devil is on the scene, and the cast may want to deal with her before turning its attention anywhere else.
