Tom Welling’s Superman leads an evil version of the Justice League fromSmallvillethrough newDCartwork. WhileSmallvilleis turning 24 years old later this year, the show’s popularity is not slowing down any time soon, as the show enjoys continuing popularity through streaming worldwide and home media releases. With the fandom always growing, the trend of the series being celebrated through fan celebrations years aftertheSmallvilleendingcontinues.

While fans were used to seeingSmallvilleand its depiction of the Justice League in the traditional heroic way, things could look a lot different if there were evil versions of them.To show what a twisted and corrupted Justice League in theSmallvillefranchise could look like,Buffy2Villeshared a new gallery of art featuring Welling as Ultraman, an evil version of Superman, along with various members of the iconic DC team, but as villains. Check it out below.

Smallville’s Justice League walks away from an Explosion

TheSmallvilleart gallery is most likely meant to be based on DC Comics' Crime Syndicate of America, with Laura Vandervoort’s Supergirl as Ultragirl, Kyle Gallner’s Impulse as a variation of Johnny Quick, Justin Hartley’s Green Arrow as Deadeye, Alan Ritchson’s Aquaman as Sea King, and Serinda Swan’s Zatanna Zatara as Annataz Arataz. With the Earth-3 concept in mind, the artwork also features Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor, who, in the comic lore, is a hero in this universe.

What The Evil Smallville Heroes Art Means For The Show

With this fan-art showingSmallville’sJustice Leagueas the Crime Syndicate,it clearly shows that there is interest to see the franchise tackle this team with these specific actors as their evil counterparts. In fact, an evil version of Superman was explored duringSmallvilleseason 10, where Welling played Earth-2’s Clark Luthor, a.k.a. Ultraman, who was found by Lionel Luthor instead of the Kents. Even though he wasn’t an evil version of Green Arrow, Hartley portrayed a grittier version of Oliver in Earth-2 as a rival to Ultraman.

IftheSmallvilleanimated sequel showwere to ever come to fruition, the Crime Syndicate storyline could be something they could finally tackle, especially by utilizing Welling’s established Supeman and Ultraman from the original series. Indeed, the animated continuation would arguably be able to better pit the Justice League against the Crime Syndicate, both due to the benefits of the format, and as this would prevent the story from being potentially too similar to the live-actionSmallvilleseason 10 plotline.

Our Take On The Evil Smallville Heroes Art

Based on theSmallvilleartwork of the evil Justice League,it would certainly be fun to see the original actors not only come back as their heroic counterparts but also voice their twisted doppelgängers. While there have been other DC media to explore the Justice League dealing with villainous versions of themselves, it would be even more fascinating to see howSmallville’sincarnation would execute that concept. But until the show’s potential return, the world can continue to relive every single season ofSmallvillethrough Blu-ray/DVD and streaming.
