Brand-new fan art from a user on Instagram reveals how Tom Welling’s Superman and the rest of the cast ofSmallvillecould have looked had they formed into an official Justice League with more experience behind them.Smallvillemay have wrapped up the series that went into incredible detail about the origins of Superman and Clark Kent’s early years learning to handle his powers, but for fans of the show, it never fails to get the imagination going when new fan art featuring the cast is released. And that is exactly what Instagram user, buffy2ville did in a recent post, taking these pre-DCEUcharacters and making them equally super.

The fan account frequently posts high quality images of the cast ofSmallvillein imaginary adventures that could have taken place some time after the show wrapped. Of course, when the series concluded in 2011,Clark had just embraced his role as Superman, but theshow never delivered an actual image of Tom Welling in the suit. Instead, it wrapped with a blur and some computer generated costume that left fans desperate for more. Fortunately, buffy2ville delivers this and more on her account.

Smallville’s Justice League Costumes & Differences To The Show Explained

From Homemade Costumes To High Tech Hero Suits

While the Justice League briefly appeared inSmallvillein the season 6 episode “Justice,” it was a far cry from the world’s most powerful superhero team as seen in the comics and cartoons. Instead, the group was led by Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow, played by Justin Hartley. Interestingly, Hartley is not included in the post from buffy2ville, but that makes sense considering he is not a traditional member of the mature Justice League team.

Who should play Batman in a Smallville crossover?

Tom Welling recently opened up about his disappointment that, across his hit show’s 10 seasons, Smallville never got to feature Batman, citing conflicts between DC’s film and TV studios. However, with an animated revival of the show said to be in the works, the door is certainly open there for someone to take on the mantle of The Dark Knight in Welling’s Superman show, especially since a comic book continuation of the show saw the two team up. Personally, I think it would be interesting to see an alternate-universe Batman join the Smallville fray, so that Alan Ritchson can finally fulfill his dream of playing the character.

However, the post does featureTom Welling in an outstanding Superman suit, which once again creates considerable nostalgia for the series and a furtherwish that Welling had got a chance to wear the suit. He is joined by Alan Ritchson, who has since become a leading action hero in shows likeReacherand films likeFast X, andThe Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Ritchson played the role of Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, early in his career, and seeing him in the full suit, as opposed to an orange and green hoodie with some green wetsuit pants, is a huge improvement.

Rounding out the team, they are joined by Kyle Gallner, who is steadily growing his career in the horror space with roles in films likeSmile, and 2022’sScream. Gallner played Bart Allen, aka, the Flash. Once again, the show sees Bartwearing a hoodie with small details that mimic the comics versionof the Flash, but the artwork from buffy2ville places him in a suit similar to Ezra Miller’s in the DCEU. And finally, Laura Vandervoort resumes her role as Kara Zor-El, aka, Supergirl. This costume is the most similar to the series, though it has been updated to be more cinematic and less a blue belly top and a red mini skirt.
