Out of all the possible story directions that theMCUcan go with inSpider-Man 4, Miles Morales’ introduction has to be one of them. It was recently reported that Tom Holland was working on a deal to return for the fourthMCUSpider-Manmovie. Holland has arguably become the most well-knownlive-action iteration of Peter Parker, andSpider-Man 4would have him become the actor who has portrayed the hero the longest. With howSpider-Man: No Way Homeended, it seemed inevitable that Holland would return for another film.

Despite Holland’s popularity as Spider-Man, some fans are arguing that it is time for him to pass the torch.Spider-Man 4is set to begin filming in early 2025, meaning the earliest it will likely release will be 2026. Holland will be 30 by then, which is closing in on the age other actors wrapped up their turns as the character (Andrew Garfield was 31 inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2and Tobey Maguire was 32 inSpider-Man 3). There are plenty of options for who can take over the MCU’s Spider-Man mantle after Holland’s time is done, and one statement from the actor himself has made a replacement’s introduction inSpider-Man 4all the more likely.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Deadline Makes Introducing Miles Morales In Spider-Man 4 More Likely

Miles Is The Likely Spider-Man Successor In The MCU

Although Holland will return forSpider-Man 4, the actor has said in the past that he has a self-imposed deadline of when he will retire from the role. Holland said in an interview withEsquire Middle Eastin 2022 thathe plans to pass on the torch of Spider-Man by 30. Read the full quote below:

“If I am 30 and still playing Spider-Man and I haven’t passed on the baton to a Miles Morales or a Spider-Woman or something more diverse, then I will have done something wrong in the sense of duties that I have to the character.”

Based on Holland’s previous statement and the fact that he will be hitting 30 years old bySpider-Man 4, the introduction of a new Spider-Man is a big possibility in the foreseeable future.

In the 2022 interview, Holland mentions passing the baton to Miles Morales or a Spider-Woman. Both are possible, but Miles seems to be the more likely choice if Marvel and Sony are to choose a new Spider-Man in the next couple of years. Miles has had a huge surge in popularity thanks to theSpider-Versefilms and the studios would be smart to capitalize off of his success. There would be no better movie for the MCU to introduce live-action Miles thanSpider-Man 4, especially with Holland’s Spider-Man deadline looming.

Miles Morales Has Been Teased For The MCU For 7 Years Now

He Was Teased In Spider-Man: Homecoming

Even if Miles hasn’t been outright name-dropped in the MCU,he was subtly set up in the franchise about seven years ago. Back inSpider-Man: Homecoming,Peter confronts a local criminal named Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover. Aaron mentions that he wants to see a safer neighborhood since his nephew lives in the area, with his nephew being none other than Miles Morales. Knowing that the character of Miles was partially inspired by Glover, having him portray his uncle Aaron was a great Easter egg for Spider-Man fans.

Miles Morales’ MCU Origin Confirmed, Spider-Man Canon Change Ends 6 Years Of Theories

Donald Glover has been revealed as the MCU’s version of the Prowler in Across the Spider-Verse, which confirms Miles Morales' existence in the MCU.

However, this Spider-Man Easter egg likely has a deeper meaning. The MCU drops plenty of subtle references, and a lot of them are intentionally meant to set up something down the line.Marvel is well aware of Miles’ popularity and the desire to see him in live-action, so it’s unlikely that they would drop a reference to him without having plans to follow up. If Miles was already on the studio’s mind all the way back in 2017, there’s a huge chance that the plan for his MCU debut is well in the works.

Miles Morales Appearing In Spider-Man 4 Wouldn’t Have To End Peter Parker’s Story

Peter And Miles Could Form A Partnership

Miles being introduced inSpider-Man 4wouldn’t mean that Peter’s story would automatically have to end. As shown inInto the Spider-Verse,a duo of heroes works just as well as having a sole protagonist. Especially with how Holland’s Spider-Man’s story has panned out in the MCU, having him be a mentor to a younger version of Spider-Man would be a rewarding arc for his character. Most of Peter’s early career was influenced by his mentor, Tony Stark, and he’s grown enough bySpider-Man 4to take on the mentor role himself.

15 Most Thrilling Scenes In Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man Movie Trilogy

Over three Spider-Man movies, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has been through a lot, with many thrilling events that make his Spider-Man trilogy great.

Having Miles and Holland’s Peter team up would arguably suit the franchise best for the foreseeable future. Peter is currently alone in the MCU because of theevents ofNo Way Home, so it’s time for him to start fresh with new allies. Miles would be the perfect partner, especially since it’s been essentially confirmed that he exists in Peter’s world. Including Miles Morales inSpider-Man 4would make sense with Holland’s Spider-Man deadline, and it’d keep Holland’s MCU opportunities open while passing the torch onto a new character.
