Putting together aConnectionspuzzle like today’s can feel like you are trying to set up an elaborate dominoes trap with intricacies and details you do not yet know.Figuring out what those pieces are will be the hardest partcomparatively, as you at least know where the pieces are supposed to go when you are setting up a row of dominoes. Once the pieces are in place, you will be able to solve the puzzle and watch the dominoes fall.

If you like putting pieces together, theNYT’sMini Crosswordpuzzlehas you collecting a different set of clues. Like any crossword puzzle, you will be getting a set of cultural clues that will lead you to the right words. However, unlike most crossword puzzles, this version is just a 5x5 square. This lets you finish it in a shorter amount of time and experience a little less frustration if you happen to get stuck. It also means you know the words all have to be short, which is a plus side of a smaller puzzle.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

NOVEMBER 18 #526

If you want some hints for today’s puzzle, we have you covered. This one is harder to say what difficulty level it rests at, as it could be quite easy or it might be hard, depending on your familiarity with the subject matter. In fact, each category is full of nouns, and you will have to figure out how they are all related- or not - to each other in order to finish the puzzle. To help you, here are four clues:

8 NYT Tiles Strategies To Score Huge Combos

The Tiles game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to use various strategies to pair matching visual patterns together to build huge combos.

Getting those last two categories is often the hardest part, as you are left with the words you didn’t immediately recognize. If that is you today, here are the category namesto help you figure it out.

___ CRAB

HAIRSPRAY

ROLLERS

I actually did not get this one right away and nearly got it last. However, I think this is because I got fixated on a later category first, but this one is not super difficult. These are all fairly common hair care products, although ROLLERS may not be as popular anymore. Most people, however, do have to use at least a COMB and are likely familiar with a DRYER and HAIRSPRAY. I rarely ever use those myself, but it is something many people in my life have used around me.

PHONE

RENT

This category caught my eye second, likely because it made me sad when I saw RENT and INTERNET and realized what the category likely was. It is hard not to see these words together when you go out on your own, and that can make it difficult. Not because the puzzle itself is difficult, but because it is difficult toadmit what your monthly expenses actually are these days. Hopefully, you did not experience too much mental trauma with this category, but you’re able to move on to the next one fast if you did.

9 Helpful Tips To Beat The Password Game (& 1 Useless One)

The Password Game can be frustrating as it uses complex mechanics that can be difficult to figure out, even with help.

DOMINO

LADYBUG

This is the category that got my attention right away and kept me fixated on it. Yes, it is likely because of DALMATIAN and yes, I was absolutely obsessed withNintendogsand getting one for my army of dogs. My mother was grateful that it was a digital dog as opposed to a real one, so that was something. At first, Ithought this category was black-and-white things, but LADYBUG made me realize it must be dot-related instead. If I had not guessed that, I likely would have been quite stuck and frustrated on this category.

HORSESHOE

SPIDER

This last category was selected last, but looking back on it, I might have actually got this one if I had looked at any of these words beforehand. I evenat one point had a HERMIT crab, although it did not last very long in my care. Crabs are one of those things that can be both fascinating and terrifying at the same time, and I often find myself wavering between those two emotions anytime I come across a crab in real life.
