If you are stuck on today’sConnectionspuzzle, we are here to help you feel likeyou can put an exclamation point at the end of your victory screen. Personally, I believe everyone should get an exclamation point for solving these puzzles, whether they got a “perfect” at the end or not. They can be quite hard to solve, and the challengeshould be rewarded with that little boost of adrenaline.
If you are looking for another puzzle to play,The Strandsdaily puzzleis a great option. In this puzzle, you get to make a lot more mistakes, but youalso get more hints for those mistakes. At the end, your score is based on how many hints you used and how long it took you to solve. If you may find the “spangram”, you will have a much easier time connecting the theme together and finishing the puzzle without using extra hints.

Today’s Connections Category Hints
OCTOBER 25 #502
If you are going along and feel like you are not sure what the categories might be, you are not alone. That is the hardest thing to figure out with mostConnectionspuzzles, and today is no exception. There are two categories that overlap quite a bit, andone word that I had not come across. Here are four hints, one for each category:
8 NYT Spelling Bee Strategies To Keep Your Streak Alive
The Spelling Bee puzzles created as a New York Times game build a streak of correct answers to get you more points, but they can be hard to keep.
In today’s puzzle, knowing the category names really is half the battle. They willsave you from a lot of heartacheand frustration, so use them to your advantage if you may.

“PAN”
POINT
TITTLE
This one is difficult, mainly due to the use of a lot of different punctuation words used in a later category. Additionally, the word TITTLE is something that I was not sure I had come across before. It sort of tugs at my memory, but its primary meaning is as a small amount of something. When I did look it up, theuse of it to mean a dot or period is “archaic,“so I did not feel quite as bad. Having studied ancient languages, however, I do still feel somewhat bad that I didn’t recognize this frustratingly tiny word.
HOP
RAVE
I did think that RAVE belonged with THUMBS UP and HEART for more positive reactions to something. Perhaps it was because I was looking at the words BAD REVIEW and thought these words also had to do with your thoughts on something. However, instead, they all have to do with dancing at events, something I actively try to avoid, which may also contribute to my struggle with this particular category. In any case, HOP like TITTLE is a bit archaic for the context it’s in, so don’t feel bad if you didn’t get it right away.

QUESTION MARK
THUMBS UP
Despite actually owning an iPhone, the use of other punctuation points in other categories distracted me from this one. And, while I use them, I do not think about them as actual “things” that would be referenced in a puzzle. That’s definitely on me, but it was something I thought about as I was finishing this puzzle. It wouldfeel a lot more unfair if I was not an iPhone userand had never seen these before, but I suppose the editor was hoping you would know what the word-based notifications other users receive from their friends.
COOKWARE
SATYR
This one was harder to figure out, particularly before it was all that was left. I can see all of them very easily now when I know what I am looking at, but I couldn’t figure out why there was a SATYR in here before. It’s also been quite some timesince I have heard “pan” used to describe a BAD REVIEW, but I do remember hearing it, unlike with TITTLE. The good news is Connections expands my catalog of words to use every day and I think we should bring TITTLE back.
