If today’sConnectionspuzzle is twisting your melon, it is also twisting ours. It is a difficult puzzle, due to the types of words and how those words are scattered throughout the box. There are also a lot of words that mean similar things, and that makes it harder to separate them out. There are also some obscure meanings for some of these words, which are not helped by the pairings they put in here. It looks easy when you first load it, but that can be deceptive and players might need some hints to help them overcome it.

If you want to play a different kind of game that doesn’t require any knowledge of definitions, theNYT’sTilespuzzleis a great one to wind down with. While it still has its challenges, as anyone who has playedMahjongcan attest,a nice aesthetically pleasing matching puzzle can calm you right down after a stressful day of work. The more tiles you connect layer-by-layer, the higher your score and the better your streak will be.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

FEBRUARY 03 #603

Today’s puzzle feels challenging because of the words that make it up. There are a ton of different possibilities, and this one felt like there were way more red herrings than there have been recently. It almost felt like half the words could be in a big category together. Solving this on your own could be very difficult, but luckily I have four hints for you to help you start to narrow down your choices with a little context.

10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

If you still need more hints after that, the category namesshould give you a good idea of what’s going on. However, due to some of the crossover words, you might still need some answers which can be found below the box.

SNAP

ZING

All of the categories I felt very close to, and in fact, I got “One Away” multiple times as I was trying to solve this puzzle. This category was one of them. Without any other context clues,I noticed that these were words that you would almost always see with a ! after them. With that in mind, I switched FOUL with one of them - I don’t even remember which one and got a wrong guess. I decided to move on after that and see what else I could guess, and I didn’t come back to it.

MITE

TAD

Again, I had a “One Away” here too, as I had BIT, LITTLE, TAD, and SLICE all together. Seeing that I was off, I swapped out one of them for WEDGE,and realized I was even further away than I thought I was. I was not able to come back to this one either, as I decided to move on to see what I was missing. MITE is a tough one here, as LOUSE is also a small insect, and they look like they would go together. The definition is also less familiar, which didn’t help my guessing game.

9 Helpful Tips To Beat The Password Game (& 1 Useless One)

The Password Game can be frustrating as it uses complex mechanics that can be difficult to figure out, even with help.

WEDGE

ZEST

I never really guessed this category, as I had several of the words in different categories at times. SLICE and WEDGE also mean a small sample of something. WEDGE is also something I thought could go with SCREW, SNAP, and TWIST as a method of securing something. This is an example of how tricky it can be with some of these puzzles, as it is an easy mistake to make with no clues. Unfortunately, it got to me today and I was unable to finish this one off.

MUCK

SCREW

At some point, I also had FOUL and MUCK together, and I was struggling to figure out what else could go with them. I think out of these, I have only really heard people say this whole phrase with the last two,as in “muck up.”I actually did look up LOUSE to see if it had a meaning besides “lice” but Google failed to give me the secondary definition at the first glance. It was unfortunate, and I’m a little mad at Google. Alas, today was not my day.
