YEW

YOU

This category was a little challenging but I was able to figure this one out.THOU is the potential pitfallif you think that words meaning “you” are the category instead. However, I saw EWE and YEW and was able to deduce that that was the right thing to do. Normally, I don’t do well when it’s based on the sound of the word rather than the definition, but today I was luckily able to get this one without many issues. It is nice when things are a little easier than you would expect.

SCOOP

V

This was actually the second category I got, and it had to do with seeing SCOOP and CREW together. I was also looking for what the remaining single letters were going for since U was already taken. V made sense as a neckline, and luckily it does belong here.I had a harder time figuring out what the last one might be, as none of them made tons of sense to me, but BOAT was the only one that seemed like it should go here, making it easier to guess the right answer.

NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast

This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!

M

THOU

By the time I came down to the last one, it was a little harder and I wasn’t sure what was happening in the last 8 words. However, the clue that did it for me was seeing GRAND and K and putting it together that they both meant 1000 in certain contexts. I knew that M was the Roman numeral for 1000, but weirdly enough,it was THOU that was the hardest for me to add in. However, once I saw it, I shook my head at myself, added it in, and was able to move on to the last category.

GLUE

TUESDAY

This category did not make sense to me until I finished it off at the end of the puzzle. I am aware of all of these things, but I don’t think about most of them very oftenso that makes it a little harder to put them all together. That being said, it was nice to be able to finish off the puzzle and avoid losing my streak. Then I could finish things up and go about my day with a different puzzle.
