Today’s Connections Category Hints

OCTOBER 08 #484

In the month of tricks, the puzzles are using tricks of their own to attempt to keep you from solving them. This can be frustratingwhen you don’t know how to separate the tricks from the real solution. However, with our help, you can figure out how to separate the words without too much headache, starting with these four clues:

Wordle History: Today’s Answer & All Past Words

Wordle is a simple daily word game that has taken the internet by storm. With only 6 chances to get the right answer, players may need a little help.

If those clues are not enough to help you avoid the tricks, you can still solve the puzzle. Often, when hints are not sufficient to see through the traps, the category names are.

The words

CANDY ___

SPIDER

WITCH

This category was not the first one I guessed, mainly because the last category also had a lot of fall or spooky-themed words that I had to sort out first. To do so, Ilooked at all the possible fall words and tried to think of what they could mean instead. I realized CORN and APPLE could share a common word, and I managed to separate those words out from the others. Luckily, my initial instinct was correct for the rest of these Halloween-themed words, and often, that first instinct is the first thing you should try.

DENY

FORBID

Having solved most of the spooky situation, the words left were a little more mundane. However, what helped me was seeing BAN and FORBID close to each other, which shows that youshould feel free to shuffle the puzzle to attempt to help you rethink your guessif you need to. Looking around, it was fairly simple to add DENY and BLOCK to the other words and finish solving this category. Seeing the words in a new spot really can help your brain when you are solving a puzzle.

10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

REST

STAFF

This next category was the words that were left at the end of my puzzle. I played music for over ten years, and now that I see the words together, they are more obvious. For me, because I happened to solve this puzzle faster, I hadn’t even considered these words. Sometimes, you know enough information to solve the puzzle but haven’t really examined all the options, solook around when you’re struggling. If I hadn’t been as sure of my original guesses, a look around would have triggered my experience with sheet music.

CANE

CORN

I solved this last category first as I sorted out the spooky words from the other spooky words. My brain saw CORN andimmediately thought about Candy Corn, and I realized there were also Candy Apples. Finding BAR encouraged this theory, but I was a little confused at first until I saw CANE. It’s a little out of season for candy canes, but I’ll take it.
