Wonder Woman is Set to Die in the Upcoming ‘Wonder War’

Killed by a Familiar Weapon with Someone Connected to Wonder Woman’s Nemesis

For context, the currentWonder Womanrun has largely been presented as a story told by the Sovereign to Diana’s daughter, Elizabeth. It’s set years after he ushered in an era of paranoia and hatred against the Amazons, leading to a war between him and Diana. Despite the wealth, privilege and power held by America’s secret king, Wonder Woman never relented, even after he hurt her by murdering Steve Trevor.Wonder Woman kept pushing and, with several allies' assistance, she was able to rob the Sovereign of his riches, expose him, and eventually imprison the withered king on Paradise Island.

The dagger that kills Wonder Woman is similar to one formed in this issue by Diana’s rage (though the handle in her chest resembles the American flag). Wonder Woman’s murderer is also revealed to be Lyssa, the same name that Diana’s rival Emelie gives to the child she births inWonder Woman #19. Even more perplexing, Sovereign refers to Lyssa affectionately, calling her “my own dear Lyssa”. While there’s a lot that needs to be clarified and elaborated on, it seems likeWonder Woman is indeed set to be murdered as revenge for what she’s done to the Sovereign’s family.

Can Anything Save Wonder Woman Or Is This It for Her?

What Can Fans Expect from the Wonder War?

It’s hard to tell how far ahead the Wonder War and Diana’s death actually is. Lyssa was just born, so barring a time skip, this could be years in the future. However, the Wonder War has eliminated all the Amazons, including Diana and her strongest allies. It wouldn’t be the first time Diana has perished, but it’s hard to see how she’d come back to life after such a brutal murder. Granted, a superhero death nowadays is more of an inconvenience than anything else, but that’s not going to make it hurt any less whenWonder Woman’slife is claimed.
