SomeFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthplayers on PC have been experiencing performance issues, but don’t worry: there’s already a mod for that. Released July 11, 2025, for the first time ever on PC,FF7 Rebirthhas already garnered praisefrom players and professionals alike. It’s skyrocketed to the near-top of Steam’s Most Concurrent Players chart, smashing records among other single-player games. But while some are frolicking through Midgar unperturbed (well,at least until that ending), others have experienced disruptive performance issues that have made the game a lot harder to enjoy.
Thankfully, the burgeoningFF7 Rebirthmodding community has a fix for poor performance- or rather, multiple fixes. A mod recently uploaded by Nexus Mods userVANIILAcoffeepromises a wide variety of improvements: a higher FPS, less motion blur, fewer stutters, and overall cleaner visuals. There are two versions of the mod: one aimed at upgrading performance with no loss in visual clarity, and another that decreases the game’s quality to help it run on lower-end systems. A mod uploaded byP40L0Xoffers a similar spate of improvements, in a more universal (although perhaps less flexible) package.

A Potential Fix For Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Performance Issues Has Surfaced
Many Players Have Encountered Bugs
Although the game itself is massively popular, manyRebirthplayers on PC have reported performance issues and bugs. A common complaint is the unstable frame rate; many players report that their games are unable to maintain a consistent speed, and may lag in the open world. This can be incredibly disruptive toRebirth’s real-time combat; you may’t fend off those Cactuars when your game is functionally freezing every few seconds.
You should never attempt to install multiple performance mods forFF7 Rebirthat the same time; uninstall each one before testing out the next.

Others saythe motion blur is excessive, which makes it difficult to explore and find secrets. Motion blur is a common trick of the trade, used to reduce the load on hardware by rendering distorted versions of the backdrop in certain areas instead of a full, detailed view. However, when overused, it can be distracting, preventing the player from catching important visual cues.
The Best Game For FF7 Rebirth Fans To Try Next Isn’t Actually A Fantasy RPG
Final Fantasy fans looking for their next game to play after beating FF7 Rebirth should definitely check out this JRPG with a very different setting.
Still others say they’ve encountered sudden black screens that have required them to restart the game, and some say it occasionally crashes outright. It’s clear thatFF7 Remakeis in desperate need of a patch, and since Square Enix itself hasn’t yet stepped in,the fan-made performance mods have filled an important niche.

Why Does Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Need This Mod In The First Place?
PC Ports Can Be Tough
WhileFF7 Rebirthran just fine on the PS5 at launch, many have encountered issues with its PC port. In general, ensuring consistent performance is much more difficult for a PC game than it is a console game. This is because all consoles of a particular type have roughly the same specs, even if there are multiple different models. But every PC is different, with one of a trillion possible permutations of hardware for the game to run on.
It’s downright impossible for the devs to playtest the game on every potential system, so PC ports of console games like this one often get off to a rocky start, then even out after a few updates.FF7 Rebirthhad similar issues at launch, and things have gotten much better since; its recent negative reviews are overwhelmingly concerned with the amount of filler content in the game, not its performance.

10 Mods We Want To See For FF7 Rebirth On PC
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is finally coming to PC on July 02, 2025, and there’s a whole host of opportunities for modders to improve the game.
These issues have heldRebirth’s Steam review score back to “Mostly Positive,” a step belowRemake’s “Very Positive.” Almost every negative review I could find was explicitly about bugs or performance issues. Still, given time, Square Enix will almost certainly be able to resolve the game’s performance issues through periodic updates. But in the meantime, PC players ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthhave lots of potential fan-made fixes to try.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and will see Cloud and his friends set off beyond the walls of Midgar to explore the world, stop Sephiroth’s machinations, and see the world outside their slum prison. Now that the whispers of fate no longer guide the characters along the pre-destined path set in the original PlayStation classic Final Fantasy 7, the heroes (and villains) will shape the future. The game will still visit prominent locales and revisit crucial story points, but it will be a more significant departure from the first game from the source material.
