The Sims 4has rather tame deaths compared to past games in the series. In particular, The Sims 3 standalone spin-off, The Sims Medieval, allowed Sims to perform brutal, cruel, and defensive attacks. Set in a fantasy setting, players can challenge others to sword duels, order lawful executions, perform assassinations via poisoning, or simply use their magic to kill enemies. These features could have worked in TS4 expansions, but only if EA had stuck to keeping the series tough and mature.

The Sims Medievalspinoffdid have a key departure from the other mainline series. Rather than playing a whole town of several Sim citizens, the game hyper-focused on one Sim: the lord of the land, a would-be King or Queen.A player’s Hero Sim would have much more authority over all the other subjects of the land. Being the leader also meant the Sim would be constantly ambushed, accosted, or otherwise solicited for danger. This meant killing or harming others was much more frequent thanTS4.

The Sims Has Toned Down Over The Years

No Chaos, No Excitement

At release,TS4was much more family-friendly and tame compared to the three previous mainline entries. Most pre-made Sims didn’t even know each other, leading to no enemies or scheming. It was also fairly complex to die, with the main surprise still being cooking fires. Drowning a Sim came with plenty of warnings, and starvation could take weeks.

TS4also removed a staple mechanic from the base game: random burglaries. Even sinceTS1, if players didn’t secure their homes with alarms, thieving NPCs could break into their homes and steal any Build Mode item. A similar feature waseventually added intoTS4: For Rent, but it was watered down. In that expansion, players' own active Sim broke into other residential houses, but they could only steal with certain traits like Kleptomaniac.

Gruesome Deaths Can Fit The Right Expansion

Executions And Duels Could Have Been Possible

The four unique deaths fromTSMcould have been introduced in variousTS4expansion packs. However, without major refreshes, this opportunity is too late. Still, perhaps a chance to bring them in during future updates.

One of the biggest disappointments ofTS4: Journey To Batuuis thatlightsabers are not real and cannot kill. Even withcheats inThe Sims 4, the lightsaber is just a glowing bat. How amazing would it have been to hone an actual lightsaber skill and challenge other Sims to duels, possibly fights to the death? It is likely Disney mandated that lightsabers be non-lethal, though that goes against most otherStar Warsmedia.

For lawful executions,it is surprising thatTS4: Get To WorkandTS4: Discover Universitydo not have that outcome for their detective or law careers, respectively. For the most part, criminals partake in non-violent crimes like vandalism, theft, and graffiti. But it would be amusing if players' judge Sim could order the death of those found guilty.

The Sims 4: 10 Sim Age-Ups From EA That Make Absolutely No Sense

EA Premade Sims have set age-ups in The Sims 4. Because of CAS behavior, they may end up overwhelming handsome, near clones, or with strange features.

Lethal food poisonings could have fit intoTS4: Dine Out. EA probably didn’t want to have a store that was actively killing Sims through food and drink. However, active Sims can still get sick accidentally from eating at restaurants. This leads toan uncomfortable moodlet instead of death. Players can also call the restaurant for a refund and possibly more compensation.

Jason Voorhees looks for his next kill in the Sims 4

Finally, it is disappointing that magic fromTS4: Realm of Magicis not deadly. The majority of spells are forcausing mayhem by manipulating moodlets. The lightning spell Zipzap only destroys objects, whilethe Inferniate spell cannot kill Sims alone. The roundabout way of killing a Sim is to use Inferniate on the ground, then order a controlled Sim to walk into the flame. This makes it impossible to kill AI NPCs who can’t be controlled.

Mods That Recreate More Violent And Tragic Events

Bringing In New Deaths Without EA

EA has been reluctant to introduce duels, executions, and poisoning to the list ofThe Sims 4deaths. But there are plenty ofmods that can add more realistic gameplay. The most noteworthy are Life Tragedies and Extreme Violence, both created bySacrificial Mods. This not only adds to burglaries but includes unhinged events like kidnappings, gang fights, andserial killers that look like Jason Voorhees.

YouTuberRyanPlaysTheSimstried out Life Tragedies and was quickly overwhelmed within a few minutes. Multiple murders occurred in Oasis Springs, and eventually, the police dragged the criminals away. Ryan then kidnaps another Sim and tortures them in a cave. They called in a ransom but were soon gunned down. If this kind of wild gameplay is what players are looking for, consider spicing the game with mods.
