What The Brave & The Bold Concept Trailer Means For Jensen Ackles' Batman Casting

Ackles is one of many actors who have said they want to playthe DCU’s Batman, as he is himself a big fan of the DC icon, and has also had the chance to voice the character in the animated Tomorrowverse. As Ackles' popularity has only increased over the last few years, especially through his run onSupernatural,it’s not shocking that fans are showing their support for him to play Batman in Gunn’s new DCU franchise. The Brave and The Boldconcept trailer is just one of many ways the fandom has shown that this is a casting they would get behind.

In Ackles' case,The Boysstar was also really close to playing Batman in live-action, asThe CW’sGotham Knightshad initially looked at trying to get Ackles as their Dark Knight for a storyline. HavingAckles be cast as Batman in live-action for Gunn’s DCUwould rectify that missed opportunity while also bringing in a popular actor who is on the record about wanting the opportunity. Given that the DCU will also focus on an established version of Batman, Ackles would be a solid fit for what DC Studios is going with regarding the franchise’s take on the hero.

Our Take On The Brave & The Bold Concept Trailer

Not only does the DCU concept trailer make a solid case for Ackles' fan-casting, it makes the wait forThe Brave and The Boldmovieeven more challenging, as it’s clear there is so much territory that Gunn’s franchise will be able to explore with Batman’s mythology in this continuity. Whether or not DC Studios is getting closer to casting their new Batman remains to be seen, but it seems Ackles will at least be considered for the role whenever this casting begins to be approached. Hopefully, more updates onThe Brave and The Boldwill start to emerge sooner rather than later.
