Industry, thebest show currently airing on HBO, just got renewed for season 4. The series, created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, follows a group of young Londoners who work in and around the finance industry and how their demanding jobs impact their personal lives. Though it has flown under-the-radar since its premiere in 2020,Industryhas earned a solid following over the years that has seen its third season produce the show’s best ratings yet. Still, it was unclear whether the show would return for a fourth season, especially as parent company Warner Bros. Discovery has cut costs and cancelled many series and movies in the last few years.
Now,HBOhas officially confirmed thatIndustrywill be returning for season 4 after the fate of the show remained up in the air during its third season. The news comes ahead of the final two episodes of season 3 airing on the network. Of the renewal, Kay and Down said:

“We are beyond thrilled and grateful to HBO, the incredible team at Bad Wolf and our phenomenal cast and crew for their continued belief in Industry and for allowing us to grow as creators, writers and now directors whilst taking the show to new heights. We can’t wait to dive deeper and deliver the best season yet in season 4.”
Francesca Orsi, head of HBO Drama Series and Films, also added:

“For three seasons, Industry has been unflinching in its examination of ambition and class, solidifying itself as a marquee HBO drama. Under Mickey and Konrad’s singular vision, this twisted, thrilling look at London finance has redefined the contemporary workplace show. We’re so excited that viewers and critics have recognized season three as bigger and better than ever, buoyed by sublime performances from our unparalleled cast. We have no doubt that Mickey and Konrad, alongside the amazing team under executive producer Jane Tranter at Bad Wolf and executive producer Kathleen McCaffrey, will take season four to even greater heights.”
Why You Should Be Watching Industry (There’s Still Time To Catch Up)
It’s A Spiritual Successor To Succession (Sort Of)
Though it was uncertain, the events ofIndustryseason 3 seemed to hint the show could conclude when its final episode airs on September 29. Fortunately, that’s not the case. With eight episodes per season, it’s not a long watch and the series is immediately compelling thanks to central performances from Marisa Abela, Myha’la, Harry Lawter, and Ken Leung.
Though some maincharacters have exited ahead ofIndustryseason 3, the core cast remains solid, and the series has introduced a revolving slate of guest stars that keeps things interesting. In season 2, Jay Duplass appeared as Jesse Bloom, a cocky hedge fund manager who gets involved with Myha’la’s Harper. Season 3 has perhaps the show’s biggest guest star yet, withGame of Thronesalum Kit Harington starring as uber-rich manchild Henry Muck, whileBarrystar Sarah Goldberg has joined as Petra, a ruthless hedge fund manager.
Kit Harington: Net Worth, Age, Height & Everything You Need To Know
Kit Harington’s net worth is made up of his huge salaries for Game of Thrones, but his endorsements and blockbuster movies have helped too.
In a way,Industryserves as asuccessor toSuccession, though both aired at the same time for the majority of the latter’s run. Both take place in high-stress business worlds, with plotlines that involve millions of dollars being on the line. WhereSuccessionwas more focused on family, though,Industrycenters on up-and-comers trying to make their way in the world. With little to lose and everything to gain, Harper, Robert, and Yasmine, as well as the supporting cast, are more brash in their pursuits and more reckless in their personal lives.
Why Industry’s Season 4 Renewal Is Good For TV
Investing In A Series Pays Off In The Longrun
Industryhas never posted astronomical viewership numbers. Still, the show’s audience has steadily grown over time, with the third season seeing its best ratings yet. Compared to season 2,Industryseason 3 has seen a 40% growth, with an average of 1.6 million people watching per episode. HBO has givenIndustrythe time it needs to flourish, allowing organic avenues like social media chatter to translate into real audience interest.
When so many networks are quick to cancel shows after one or two seasons, it’s refreshing to see HBO have faith inIndustryand allow the show to experience this type of growth. With a fourth season,Industrycan only go up from here. Seeing as every episode ofIndustryseason 3 has been near-perfect, it’s even more exciting that the show will return firing on all cylinders.
