WARNING: This article includes MAJOR spoilers for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 10.Following the events of theSuperman & Loisseries finale, aDCTV actor breaks down one of the biggest moments in the final episode. TheSuperman & Loisseason 4 finale has officially brought anend to the Arrowverse, marking over a decade’s worth of superhero stories, as Lois Lane and Clark Kent gave the franchise a proper sendoff. One of the pivotal moments inSuperman & Loisseason 4, episode 10, was the two Super-Sons finally getting official costumes with the House of El crest, which was a long time coming for one of the boys.

In an exclusive interview withScreen Rant, Alex Garfin opened up about the two Superboy heroes suiting up in the finale and what the process was like filmingSuperman & Lois’flash-forward moment. According to the DC TV star, his experience with theSuperman & Loisseries finale had some funny surprises, sharing the following:

Jordan and Jonathan Kent sitting together in the Superman & Lois TV show

Well, you were watching something funny! Basically, they had me in all black leotard, like a black skin suit, all the way up and down. So you could see every bit of my skin. Then they had you in a harness to fly, and the harness would latch right around your crotch area, thereby lifting your crotch out to the world. And then that was the day while the executives showed up from Los Angeles! [laughs] So I’m walking out there making jokes with people, like, ‘Hey! I have no modesty left. I have no modesty left whatsoever. This is what they’re doing to me.’ And then, of course, the executives are right there, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God!’ I’m like walking by them - ridiculous, I hope it looks cool on camera, though.

Screen Rantalso asked for an explanation ofthe Superboys' superhero suits concept artthat was revealed in the upcomingSuperman: The Definitive Historybook. According to Garfin, they were indeed done for a proof of concept ifSuperman & Loishad gone beyond season 4, as he revealed the following:

Yeah, that was a proof of concept. I’m pretty sure of what these suits would look like for the last couple frames. I mean, I don’t think it was ever really a debate to build the ones for real. There was for another version of the show that we’ll get into on another interview with you when I can speak about a little more freely. But by the time it came to Michael and I are both doing it towards the end of season 4, they were pretty sure they were just gonna digi it all on us.It’s a lot cheaper that way. So when I watch the finale, which will actually be a week after everyone else watches it, because we’re doing a little screening in LA and I’m going to wait till then to see it, I’m going to finally see myself with the crest after all this time. I did my first audition for this role when I just turned 16, and now I will see it after I’m 21, isn’t that crazy?

What Alex Garfin’s Comments Mean For Superman & Lois' Finale

WhileSuperman & Loisseason 4 was able to become a reality, it came at a high price, as The CW drama had to undergo massive budget cuts to even make the final season happen. Not only wasSuperman & Loisseason 4’s episode order cut down to 10 episodes (when past seasons were 13-15),but multiple original cast members were not brought back as series regulars. Given the major VFX aspects that came withtheSuperman & Loisseason 4 story, it is no surprise that elements like new superhero costumes weren’t necessarily something that could be produced.

Making superhero suits is always one of the most cost-demanding aspects of a comic book show, especially for a series likeSuperman & Loisand its season 4 circumstances. To produce superhero costumes that would only be worn for theSuperman & Loisendingis likely a cost that Warner Bros. TV and The CW were not looking to make, especially with both sides having dealt with cost-cutting over the last few years. If anything, had they introduced the costumes earlier in the season, there would have been more reason to use some of theSuperman & Loisbudget to make actual suits.

Our Take On Alex Garfin’s Superman & Lois Finale Suit Comments

Even if they didn’t get to wear actual costumes,it’s still great to hear Garfin being satisfied with at least carrying the House of El symbol for his final episode beforeSuperman & Loiscame to its end. However, from the concept art that was revealed previously, it would have also been fun to see what those costumes would have looked like in live-action. But nevertheless, it doesn’t take away from the ambitious work that was put intoSuperman & Loisseason 4 and the end of the Arrowverse.
