Stardew Valleyis known for having some incredibly cute interactions between Farmers and their animals butthis player may have just seen the most adorable conversation yet. The day players get a pet inStardew Valleyis one of the early highlights of a playthrough and while they may not do much in a mechanical sense, it’s always comforting to come home after a long day to see one’s cat or dog curled up on the bed. If that wasn’t cute enough, it turns out that cats' in-game sounds are more realistic than many assumed.

Posted to Reddit bydilaurdid, the player shared a wholesome conversation between their in-game cat and their real-life cat, warming the community’s collective heart.

Two torches over a Stardew Valley farm

Selecting their digital cat to give it a pet makes the creature meow, resulting in their actual kitty responding in turn. Many have commented on the adorable moment, suggestingthey’ve encountered similar things with their real-life dogs; dilaurdid says they’ve seen their cat do this a few times but this is the first chat that’s been caught on camera.

Stardew Valley Pets Have Never Been Better

Bless The 1.6 Update

While pets have been around sinceStardew Valleylaunched in 2016, the recent 1.6 Update significantly improved them. One of the best additions included in the patch is the ability to adopt more pets after maxing out one’s friendshipwith their starting animal. These adorable critters can be selected and purchasedfrom Marnie fora decent chunk of change, so one has to be certain they’re ready to take care of two (or more) animals.

There’s now also a point to showing one’s pet extra love and affection asthe 1.6 Update introduced a mechanic that allows cats and dogs to bring the farmer gifts. These treats are never anything major but it’s still a fantastic feature that only furthers theconnection between player and pet. One of the smaller changes to pets that received plenty of attention from the community is the reduction in the amount of time needed to push “through” them, a small tweak that was greatly appreciated by the community given how cats tend to block paths.

Stardew Valley Player Accidentally Learns A Fun New Use For Torches

Stardew Valley players needn’t leave their torches lying around the place as one user has discovered a more efficient means of lighting the farm.

What’s ironic about dilaurdid’s post is thatthey’re currently playingStardew Valleyon a Switch which has yet to receive the 1.6 Update. Developer ConcernedApe has stated on several occasions that he’sworking to get the update to console usersbut there’s still no word on when it will arrive. Until then, those on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and mobile will simply have to deal with only having a single pet.
