OneStar Wars RebelsEaster egg in theAhsokashow was so much greater than it initially seemed (and it already seemed pretty great).Ahsokahas largely been considered a direct follow-up toRebels, especially becauseAhsoka’scast of charactersincluded manyRebelscharacters who hadn’t appeared inStar Warsmovies and TV showsoutside that show. Thematically,Ahsokaalso mirroredRebelsin many ways, including with the involvement ofthe World Between Worlds.
Ahsokaalso stood on its own two feet, tying into other stories in addition toRebels—for example, by connecting directly toStar Wars: The Clone Warsthrough Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano’s reunion. The link betweenRebelsandAhsokaremains undeniable, though, which led to a number of Easter eggs.OneRebelsEaster egg in particular was a wonderful callback inAhsoka, and a newly discovered specific detail about it makes it so much better.

Ahsoka’s Star Wars Rebels Reference Is So Much Deeper Than We Thought
Star Wars Has Confirmed Sabine’s Knife Was More Than Just A Callback
InAhsoka, Sabine Wren was first shown with long colorful hair. Although the colors were reminiscent of her hair inRebels, the length certainly wasn’t. This was intentional by the show, though, as this led to a scene in which Sabine took a knife to her hair, cutting it off. Viewers were quick to recognize thatthis moment in which Sabine cuts her hair with a knife inAhsokawas nearly identical to a scene fromRebelsin which Kanan Jarrus cuts his own hair with a knife.
The connection to thisRebelsmoment was recently confirmed to be even deeper than that.

However, the connection to thisRebelsmoment was recently confirmed to be even deeper than that. In the Blu-ray DVD extras for theAhsokashow,Star Warsconfirmed that the knife Sabine wields in this scene is the exact knife Kanan used inRebels.
While this near mirror-image scene inAhsokawas already touching enough, this insight made it so much better.

Because of Kanan’s death inRebels, he didn’t have an appearance in theAhsokashow (although hope remains that he could appear in some form inAhsokaseason 2, either in flashback or perhaps as a Force ghost). This knife inAhsokabeing his is a beautiful way to still incorporate him into the show, even if he can’t be part of this story himself. This Easter egg is also confirmation of how much Kanan continued to mean to theRebelscharacters, even long after his death.

It’s Wonderful To See That Kanan Has Such A Deep Legacy
Kanan Deserves This Callback
If anyone deserves such long-running love and respect, it’s Kanan Jarrus. Kanan was not only one of the best characters inRebelsbut was also one of the best Jedi in the entire franchise. He stood for everything the Jedi should have been demonstrating and prioritizing all along—compassion, bravery, selflessness, and loyalty. His death was caused entirely by self-sacrifice, and he didn’t hesitate for a second to make that decision.
Kanan was not only one of the best characters inRebelsbut was also one of the best Jedi in the entire franchise.

Kanan also kept the legacy of the Jedi Order alive as one of thesurvivors of Order 66. Perhaps most impressive of all, Kanan had a romantic attachment to Hera Syndulla, and he was able to stay on the light side of the Force despite all the Jedi had believed about attachments and how they inevitably drew one to the dark. ThisStar Wars RebelsEaster egg inAhsokais the perfect way to honor Kanan Jarrus’ incredible legacy and bring the beloved Jedi back to theStar Warsscreen, even when he can’t be there himself.
