Star Wars Rebels’Ghost Crew was an integral force in the Rebellion’s struggle against the Empire, but how threatening were each of its members individually? The Ghost Crew may beStar Wars’most charmingly ragtag group of heroes yet; each character –Hera Syndulla, Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios,Sabine Wren, Kanan Jarrus,Ezra Bridger, and yes, even their droid, Chopper – came from a troubled, traumatic, or violent past. Hera, the Ghost Crew’s leader, gave them all a renewed sense of purpose, a new family, and perhaps most importantly, something to fight for.

Of course, each team member brought their own useful skills to the table. As Jedi, Kanan and Ezra were invaluable to the group and the Rebellion at large. Sabine was a masterful engineer, Zeb was an excellent bodyguard, Hera was an exceptional pilot, and Chopper was a deviously clever mechanic. They fit together beautifully as a team, but as with any team, some members are bound to be more threatening and powerful than others.

Star Wars Rebels Timeline Explained: When Each Season Takes Place

From Ezra and the crew’s first meeting to Ahsoka and Sabine’s reunion, here’s when each Star Wars Rebels season takes place in the Star Wars timeline.

6Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios

Spectre 4: The Muscle

Zeb Orrelios, code name Spectre 4, is a skilled warrior and protector. As one of the few remaining Lasat, Zeb’s anger over his people’s genocide – especially towards Imperial Agent Kallus – fueled his lust for fighting and strengthened his resolve to help the Rebellion and those communities affected by the Empire’s dictatorial reign. He wields a bo-rifle, a formidable weapon that can be used as both a staff and blaster rifle, which he was given when he became a Captain of the Lasat Honor Guard.

Zeb’s fighting skills, combined with his brute strength – he was great at beating up stormtroopers whenever the need arose – made Zeb an undeniably important part of the Ghost Crew. However, since the majority of Zeb’s skills are most useful when the whole team is on a mission, he is, on the whole, the least threatening member of the Ghost Crew. If you need someone to back you up in a fistfight, though, Zeb is undoubtedly the one you should call.

5Hera Syndulla

Spectre 2: Leader and Pilot

Hera Syndulla, code name Spectre 2, is the Ghost Crew’s leader and one of the most skilled pilots the galaxy has ever seen. Perhaps she was even the most skilled pilot of all. Hera could fly theGhost– and any other ship, really – with precision, creativity, and passion. She was driven by instinct, but she was also a skilled strategist. Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Empire’s most feared and revered tactician, even admired her for her skills in the cockpit and as a Rebel leader. It’s no surprise that Hera was eventually promoted to become a General of the Rebel Alliance.

However, Hera’s skills lie in leadership, strategy, and protecting her crew and her ship. She’s not a warrior like Zeb, Kanan, Sabine, or Ezra, though she is ruthless enough when the situation calls for it. She may have been a major thorn in the Empire’s side as a leader of the Rebel Alliance, but, without her crew to back her up, there’s not much Hera could have reasonably done against the might of the Imperial war machine.

4C1-10P AKA “Chopper”

Spectre 3: Mechanic

C1-10P, lovingly known asChopper or Spectre 3, has committed countless war crimes. Yes, really – this little orange-domed astromech is a serious killing machine, with roughly 4,500 Imperial deaths to his name (and counting). For instance, inStar Wars Rebelsseason 2, episode 9, “Stealth Strike,” Chopper single-handedly sabotages an Imperial Interdictor’s gravity well, causing it, and two nearby Light Cruisers, to crash into one another and implode.

Chopper is deviously and gleefully violent, but he’s also fiercely loyal to Hera Syndulla and the rest of the Ghost Crew. While his kill count is undeniably (and rather harrowingly) impressive, Chopper is, unfortunately, limited by having to be in the right place at the right time.Additionally, while destroying Imperial ships and killing Imperial officers does hurt the Empire, that hurt is often only temporary. There are always new people to recruit and new ships to build. Chopper’s exploits, while impressive, didn’t have a lasting effect. Chopper’s back in the game in the New Republic era, though, so anything could happen next.

3Sabine Wren

Spectre 5: Weapons and Explosives Expert

Sabine Wren, AKA Spectre 5, is a threat to the Empire (and the Ghost Crew’s other enemies) on multiple levels.Firstly, she’s a weapons expert and grade A engineer. In other words, if you need explosives, you call Sabine Wren. Though she originally created some of her deadliest inventions for the Empire, she eventually turned on them and turned her designs on them, too. InStar Wars Rebelsseason 4, episode 2, “Heroes of Mandalore (2),” for instance, she reprograms one of her old weapons to use against the Empire rather than the Mandalorians.

Her Mandalorian heritage is also an important part of why Sabine is such a threat to the Empire. After claiming the legendary Darksaber, Sabine manages to reunite her family and turn her Mandalorian clan, who, until that point, had been loyal (under duress) to the Empire, against them. The Mandalorians and their resources were a massive asset to the Empire – losing their “loyalty” was a striking blow.

Lastly, and more recently, Sabine has unlocked her potential as a Force-user. She’s still got a lot to learn, and her mentor, Ahsoka Tano, is likely to give her a crash course now that they’re both stuck in anotherStar Warsgalaxy. But a Jedi of any skill level is always a threat to the Empire, and in this case, the Imperial Remnant. How powerful will Sabine become? We’ll have to wait and see.

2Kanan Jarrus

Spectre 1: Co-Leader and Jedi Knight

As a Jedi,Kanan Jarrus– formerly Caleb Dume, also known as Spectre 1 – was a massive threat to the Empire, and more importantly, Emperor Palpatine.Where there’s a Jedi, there’s hope, and Kanan excelled at providing hope to those in desperate need of it. Of course, Kanan also trained another new Jedi, his young Padawan, Ezra Bridger. Before meeting Kanan, Ezra was stuck surviving on the streets of Lothal, with no concept of what he was capable of. Kanan changed the Empire’s fate by mentoring Ezra, though at the time, neither Jedi could imagine what they would accomplish together.

Mentoring Ezra wasn’t Kanan’s only slight against the Empire, however. He was a genuinely powerful Jedi in his own right, despite never having completed his training with the Jedi Order. InStar Wars Rebelsseason 1, he defeated the Grand Inquisitor, Darth Vader’s highest-ranking Jedi hunter. Kanan also lost his eyesight after a fateful duel with Maul (formerly Darth) in theStar Wars Rebelsseason 2 finale, but his connection with the Force grew stronger as a result.

You can read more about Kanan’s life before and after Order 66 in the comic seriesStar Wars: Kananby Greg Weisman and the novelStar Wars: A New Dawnby John Jackson Miller.

It was that strong connection to the Force that allowed him to do what needed to be done inStar Wars Rebelsseason 4, episode 10, “Jedi Night.” Kanan used all of his considerable strength to save Hera, Sabine, and Ezra from an Imperial fuel tank explosion, regaining his eyesight but sacrificing himself in the process.Little did he or the Empire know that Kanan’s selflessness would be the beginning of the end for the Empire’s operations on Lothal and the Empire’s reign in general.

1Ezra Bridger

Spectre 6: Jedi Padawan

One could argue that Kanan and Ezra’s placements on this list are interchangeable. They were both formidable Jedi, after all, difficult to find and even more difficult to kill. However,Ezra’s story is arguably only just beginning. Despite all he’s already done to harm the Empire and all the struggles he’s overcome along the way, it’s unlikely Ezra has reached his full potential. There’s still so much more to come from him. Hopefully, we’ll see what role Ezra still has to play in the fight against the Imperial Remnant inAhsokaseason 2 (and perhapsThe Mandalorian & Grogu, too).

Though it took Ezra a while to come into his own as a Jedi, his power truly started to shine through inStar Wars Rebelsseason 3. He became a skilled tactician, he wielded a lightsaber with incredible dexterity and ease, and his connection with the creatures around him – most notably the Loth wolves and the purrgil,Star Wars’hyperspace-traversing space whales – which was already extraordinary, became even more so. He also overcame the temptation of the dark side and Maul’s persuasive nature. It seemed there was nothing Ezra couldn’t do. And yet, he had one last lesson to learn.

When Kanan sacrificed himself, everything changed for Ezra. When he accessed the World Between Worlds (a dimension connecting all space and time) and saved Ahsoka Tano’s life – another blow to what would become the Imperial Remnant –Ezra learned the most important lesson of all: the art of letting go.He lets go of his chance to save his Master’s life in the World Between Worlds, destroying Emperor Palpatine’s chances of accessing it in the process. He also gave up an opportunity to be with his parents again, whom he’d lost when he was just a young boy, all in the name of the Rebellion.

Most importantly of all, he sacrificed his future with his Ghost Crew family to exile himself and Grand Admiral Thrawn to parts unknown, freeing Lothal and crumbling the Empire’s power structure in the process. Palpatine believed Thrawn was one of the few Imperials cunning enough to defeat the Rebel Alliance once and for all. His disappearance was the beginning of the end. Ezra hurt the Empire over and over again.

Star Wars Rebels Ending Explained (& What Happened To The Ghost Crew)

Star Wars Rebels' epic ending saw Lothal freed from the Empire, and set up the future of the Ghost crew and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka.

Of course, there is one last member of the Ghost Crew to consider – Spectre 7, AKAJacen Syndulla. Jacen is Hera and Kanan’s son, born after Kanan’s death. However, while there are enough hints in both theStar Wars Rebelsepilogue andAhsokato suggest that Jacen is Force-sensitive, it’s currently impossible to say how much of a threat he’ll pose to the Imperial Remnant or even the First Order. If he’s as strong and selfless as his father, though, and if he gets trained by Ezra (or even Luke Skywalker), there’s no telling what Jacen might accomplish in the not-so-distant future.

All in all, the Ghost Crew was and still is an important team inStar Warscanon. They were integral to the Rebel Alliance and the Empire’s destruction, and most team members – sadly, sans Kanan – will continue to fight the Empire’s lasting oppression duringStar Wars’ New Republic era. Hopefully, we’ll seeStar Wars Rebels’ heroes again soon.
