InStar Wars Outlaws, the early main quest “Underworld” serves as an introduction to many of the game’s systems, but with a special focus on the crime syndicates that rule the galaxy’s underworld. It’s a mission of treachery and double-crosses, as an unnamed representative of the Crimson Dawn hires Kay toinfiltrate the base of Pyke Syndicate leader Gorakand steal an important file. It turns out to be nothing more than a family spotchka recipe, but of course, the job was only a test. The client, a Twi’lek named Eleera, reveals herself and promises more work for Kay in the future.

But while she’s sneaking around Gorak’s base, Kay finds something else:evidence that one of Gorak’s underlings is preparing to betray him. As she debriefs with Eleera, Kay has a choice: should she tell Eleera, so she can take advantage of the opportunity and give the Crimson Dawn the upper hand, or should she save it for Gorak, who earlier spurned her for asking about a job? This choice can have significant (though not irreversible) effects, so it’s a good idea to weigh Kay’s options carefully before deciding who to side with during “Underworld.”

The “Underworld” Decision Affects Kay’s Syndicate Reputation

How Star Wars Outlaws' Reputation System Works

Long story short, the final “Underworld” decision ultimately affects Kay’s reputation with one of two factions inStar Wars Outlaws. If she gives the information to Eleera, she’ll gain a few points of favor with the Crimson Dawn, and if she gives it to Gorak, she’ll gain a few points with the Pyke Syndicate. However, the reputation system is no small matter; getting to certain levels with certain factions can unlock a variety of different areas, items, and quests throughout the game.

5 Best Ways To Increase Reputation In Star Wars Outlaws

Getting your reputation settled with the various factions is crucial for traversing the world easier and getting the best gear in Star Wars Outlaws.

There are four main factions inStar Wars Outlaws: the Pykes, the Crimson Dawn, the Hutt Cartel, and the Ashiga Clan. Kay has a separate reputation ranking with each one, ranging from Terrible to Excellent along a sliding scale. Players can gain points in various ways: completing quests/contracts, making certain story decisions, or selling data logs are perhaps the most common ways to build a good reputation. However,it’s much easier to lose reputation points than it is to gain them. Kay loses points every time she’s caught stealing from or trespassing on a faction’s restricted territory, unless her reputation is already Excellent.

“Underworld” only affects Kay’s reputation with the Crimson Dawn or Pyke Syndicate; most players won’t encounter the Hutts or Ashiga until later in the game.

It is technically possible to max out Kay’s reputation with all the factions inStar Wars Outlaws, but it’s not easy. Players are instead encouraged to choose one or two favorite factions, and simply level up with them as they go through the game, or simply to choose whatever option benefits them most at each critical juncture. To guide that decision, reachingcertain ranks in each faction comes with a variety of different rewards. Kay might get a new piece of equipment or unlock a high-value mission after getting in a syndicate’s good graces.

Two of Kay’s special outfits stand as renders on either side of her Han Solo outfit. The right outside, the Outlaw outfit, has an orange powder explosion behind it, while the left, the Boonta Brawler, has a yellow dust explosion.

But even low reputation ranks have effects on the game: a syndicate boss might send assassins after Kay if she angers them enough, or require her to perform a difficult mission to repay a debt. Most importantly, though,Kay’s reputation with each faction determines which areas she’s allowed into, and which areasshe must sneak around. “Underworld” is the first opportunity players have to gain some reputation points with any ofStar Wars Outlaws' factions, so it’s important to make the right choice.

What Happens If You Tell Eleera About The Traitor In Star Wars Outlaws?

Pros & Cons Of Siding With The Crimson Dawn

If the player opts to tell Eleera about the Pyke traitor,Kay’s reputation with the Crimson Dawn will immediately go up by a few points. If they haven’t done anything to upset the Crimson Dawn thus far, it should be enough to propel their rating with the faction from Poor to Good. For this, Kay will receive the Crimson Reign Coating, a cosmetic skin for her blaster.

Being in the Crimson Dawn’s good graces can get Kay into some interesting areasthroughout Toshara, including the kitchen of a restaurant she can pass through tounlock the Mirogana Vault, a decently rewarding side quest. There are lots of Crimson Dawn bases outside Mirogana, too, so this can be a major boon to the player’s exploration and treasure-hunting in the early game.

10 Best Outfits In Star Wars Outlaws

There are a lot of outfits to buy, trade for, and discover in Star Wars Outlaws, with many sporting powerful passive bonuses for Kay’s journey.

However, siding with the Crimson Dawn won’t affect Kay’s reputation with the Pyke Syndicate, and doesn’t have any major story implications afterward. Players will never see the traitor enact their plan, and Gorak will never find out they hid it from him, so the only negative consequence of this decision is that they won’t be able to get into Pyke territory without using stealth tactics.

What Happens If You Save The Intel For Gorak In Star Wars Outlaws?

Pros & Cons Of Siding With The Pyke Syndicate

But if players instead choose “save it for Gorak” and bring the information directly to the Pyke leader,Kay will gain the same number of reputation points with the Pyke Syndicate. If their reputation with the Pykes is perfectly neutral, she’ll go up to Good status, and receive the Imperial Coating for the blaster instead.

This will allow Kay to access Pyke-controlled areas of Toshara, particularly the same section of Mirogana they already had to sneak into in order to retrieve the spotchka recipe. By comparison to the many Crimson Dawn-occupied regions, the Pyke districts are pretty small and limited, and Kay has already explored the majority of one in the previous quest. That said, there are many Pyke merchants in Mirogana, so siding with them means Kay will get slightly better prices at most vendors on Toshara.

The next quest, “New Tricks,” requires Kay to steal a blaster part from either Pyke or Crimson Dawn territory. Whichever syndicate she sided with in “Underworld” should allow her to walk right through the doors, but the mission is otherwise the same either way.

However, the ultimate reward for maxing out reputation with the Pyke Syndicate is a unique item that’s significantly better than the Crimson Dawn Reward. With max Pykes reputation, players receive an Imperial Disguise, which makes it easier for Kay to sneak into Empire-controlled areas.

You Should Tell Eleera About The Traitor In Star Wars Outlaws

The Crimson Dawn Offers More Immediate Rewards

Ultimately,it’s best to double-cross Gorak and tell Eleera about the traitor instead. Siding with the Crimson Dawn offers more immediately useful rewards, by getting Kay into their restricted areas full of valuable loot. There’s still plenty of time to level up with the Pykes later by doing quests for other faction members, so players will still have ample opportunity to get the Imperial Disguise before they need to sneak into Imperial territory.

10 Hidden Star Wars Outlaws Features That Will Improve Your Experience

To get the most from a playthrough of Star Wars Outlaws, players should use every feature they can to maximize their experience exploring the galaxy.

Danka even compliments this decision, saying it demonstrates that Kay is learning how to navigate the criminal underworld. By helping the Crimson Dawn over Gorak, she’s putting herself first, and demonstrating her usefulness to the one syndicate in town that seems willing to hire her. Plus, it feels nice to stick it to Gorak after he was so dismissive of Kay earlier.

This is only the beginning of Kay’s dealings with these factions, though; they’ll recur constantly throughout the game, so it’s easy to to make up lost points with one syndicate elsewhere. Players should always consider their overall reputations, and their short- and long-term goals before making any faction decisions inStar Wars Outlaws.
