Radiation Damage is one thing you will be forced to face inStalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and while you will be told how to fix that, you can suddenly find yourselfconstantly accumulating Radiation Poisoningno matter where you are and how much you heal yourself even in safe zones. This can be confusing and look like a bug, but there is actually a way to fix it.
With thelaunch ofStalker 2being a little buggy, you might think that this constant radiation is one of those bugs and something that the next patch or update will fix. However, this is not the case and thegame will not outwardly explain whythis is happening. Figuring out how to fix this will save you from consuming all of your Radiation Protection and save your game from feeling too difficult.

Artifact Radiation Poisoning & How To Fix It Fast
As it turns out, artifacts inStalker 2are the main cause of your radiation damage issue. While you are told that the artifacts are quite helpful, and the menu screen is vague about whether you will getmore radiation damage or less using a particular artifact, some of them can be quite dangerous to wear around. This is because some of them have both positive and negative outcomes, and you should pay attention to which those are.
STALKER 2: Heart Of Chornobyl - More Than Another Cult Classic
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is an ambitious and engrossing open-world immersive sim, putting you in the Zone, an unnerving and unfathomable place.
The source of the problem is within the menu description. On it, arelic might say Radiation and then a level such as Medium. When this is the case, you will be receiving a Medium amount of Radiation damage, rather than avoiding it. This might seem obvious, but I myself was struggling to understand why I was receiving so much damage simply because I equipped the artifact without thinking too much about it and itlooked like it was protecting me rather than damaging me.

This is one thing the game does not explicitly say. While the Tutorials menu does state that Artifacts can cause you harm, how they actually do it is unknown each individual artifact. You will want topay very close attention to everything you cantoavoid mistakes inStalker 2like this, including what the various NPCs are saying and doing.
You should eitherstash the artifact awayor sell it until you find a proper countermeasure. Certain things like armor upgrades inStalker 2can negate an amount of radiation damage, while other artifacts can have the opposite effect. Theseprotective ones will say Radio Protectionas opposed to just Radiation. Once unequipped, you may still have to heal any lingering status effects with medicine or by sleeping if you are not yet taking damage.. In an already difficult game, do not make it worse for yourself.

The first artifact you find during the tutorial, theSlug, has the Radiation Protection attribute. Unfortunately, you do not get to keep this one. However, as this artifact was explained as offering that protection, I did not think about another one harming me in the same way.
If it is not an artifact, there may yet be other items in the game that do the same thing that haven’t been discovered yet, as there were others in the first game.Check your inventoryfor anything that looks like the damaging artifact does if you are still taking damage. Unequip it and get rid of it if you can to fix any problems with radiation you have inStalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
