Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull #1!There are few franchises more rooted in pure aesthetic thanTeenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesandHe-Man and the Masters of the Universe, including and especially the main villains of both franchises, like Skeletor, Shredder, Krang and more. Their unique designs have become some of the most recognizable in history, and now, they’re getting dark redesigns in an all-new crossover comic, as the iconicHe-ManandTMNTfranchises combinetheir lore.
InMasters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull#1 by Tim Seeley and Freddie E. Williams II, the Ninja Turtles travel to Eternia after uncovering a sinister plot. Shredder and Krang were communicating with Skeletor, sending him mutagen ooze in exchange for access to black magic. When the Turtles interrupt their interdimensional communication channel, theTMNTheroes and villains are sucked through a portal to Eternia.

As soon as they get there, the Turtles meet Duncan, the Man-at-Arms, and join forces with the Eternian Royal Family. Meanwhile, Krang and Shredder move into Snake Mountain, where they do more than just partner up with Skeletor, but use a combination of mutagen ooze and black magic to become even more powerful than they were before - which came with an awesome redesign for each.
He-Man & TMNT Villains Took on Characteristics of the Other in These Epic Redesigns
Skeletor, Shredder, and Krang Got Awesome Mash-Up Makeovers (& so Did Their Minions)
He-Man and the Master of the UniverseandTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlescombine their villains in truly epic fashion. Shredder gets a newHe-Man-esque costume with bulkier muscles and added razors to his already deadly armor. Krang shows off his redesign in the form of his android exosuit, which ditches its former humanoid appearance for a look more akin to a dark fantasy troll. Inversely, Skeletor’s redesign takes on aspects of theTMNTuniverse, with all-new armor reminiscent of a samurai.

The main franchise villains aren’t the only ones who got awesome redesigns, either, with two of the greatest standouts (one from each universe) being Slash and Trap Jaw. Slash underwent a secondary mutation after the mutagen ooze was infused with black magic. After his exposure to this new magical ooze, Slash turned blue, his shell turned purple, and he gotHe-Man-like armor (similar to Shredder). Trap Jaw took a different approach to his redesign, as instead of getting mutated, he fashioned new robotic armor fromTMNT’s Mousers, making his iconic ‘trap jaw’ even deadlier.
He-Man/TMNT Crossover Makes the Iconic Characters Even More ‘Toyetic’
Both He-Man & TMNT have an Extensive Action Figure History
Back in the ‘80s,He-ManandTMNTtoyswere the coolest action figures one could have, and if these crossover designs existed back then, it’s safe to say that stores wouldn’t be able to keep them on the shelves. Not only that, but keeping these characters ‘toyetic’ was a key factor in both franchises. In fact, the main reason theHe-ManandTMNTanimated series were even greenlit was to sell toys (indeed,He-Manwas actually created by the toy company, Mattel). Therefore, these fresh redesigns honor the legacy of both franchises by merging them together in fun, interesting, and ‘toyetic’ ways.
Fans can actually own action figures based onMasters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of GrayskullfromMattel!

WhileHe-Man/TMNTcrossover ‘80s-style action figures would be awesome to get one’s hands on, just seeing those designs in the pages of a comic is plenty cool enough as-is. And the best part? This miniseries is only just getting started, allowing fans plenty of time to spend with Skeletor, Shredder, Krang, and more with their awesome redesigns in thisTeenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesandHe-Man and the Masters of the Universecrossover.
