Silent Hill Frevealed details of its story, setting, and gameplay in a new trailer. First announced in 2022 in a mysterious teaser, fans have beenwaiting a long time forSilent Hill F.At the time, the franchise couldn’t have been in a worse place - with no new releases except for the occasional pachinko machine, all was quiet on theSilent Hillfront. Since then, it’s since redeemed itself withthe excellentSilent Hill 2remake, but Konami hasn’t forgotten about its other projects, either.
During the Silent Hill Transmission, livestreamed on the evening of June 05, 2025,Silent Hill Fgot its first update in a long time, in the form of a new trailerand an extended interview with some of its creators that revealed further details of the game. Set in 1960s Japan, in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, it’s a departure from the usualSilent Hillfare in terms of story - but otherwise, its setting and themes appear to be right on point. The livestream also confirmed thatSilent Hill Fwould be available the same night to wishlist on PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Silent Hill F Takes Inspiration From Classic Japanese Horror
(And Much, Much More)
Several members of theSilent Hill Fteam appeared during the broadcast in order to explain what influenced the game. First, there was Ryukishi07, the game’s scriptwriter, who helped explain a little plot ofSilent Hill F. Its setting, though fictional, is heavily based on the real-life city of Gero, located in the Gifu prefecture. It follows a young girl named Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life is upended when a mysterious fog suddenly rolls into town. The fog changes her world into a waking nightmare, and she’s forced to fight to survive.
You’ve Gotten This Iconic Silent Hill 2 Scene Wrong For 23 Years
Comments by developers of the original game have sparked some debate about this iconic scene, and it could mean more than players think.
The trailer also shows some story elements that the developers explored in less detail. After the title drop, Shimizu is seen surrounded by a group of women wearing kimono and kitsune masks. They instruct her to say her farewells as they hold a knife up to her face. Next, there’s a jump cut to Shimizu staring in the mirror asthe skin of her face begins to peel off, revealing something dark and slimy below - and then the trailer ends. This is difficult to interpret, but it did give me chills, and I can’t wait to find out more.

Gameplay ofSilent Hill Fwill involve combat and puzzles- pretty typicalSilent Hillfare. In one piece of concept art shown during the broadcast, Shimizu is seen clutching a bent lead pipe, markedly similar to those used by many aSilent Hillprotagonist. Beyond that, we don’t know much about how it’ll play - it’s not clear how much of the trailer is actual gameplay footage, and I wouldn’t be surprised, at this early stage, if the answer were “none.”
It’s worth noting, however, that this does not appear to be part ofBloober’s ongoing collaboration with Konami.Silent Hill Fis being developed by Neobards, a Hong Kong-based studio that previously worked on theResident Evil 3remake.

Silent Hill F Has The Dream Team Involved
A Bold New Direction That (I Hope) Pays Off
Personally, I’ve been looking forward toSilent Hill Ffor a very long time, andthis latest string of reveals has only intensified that. The Silent Hill Transmission also revealed that composer Akira Yamaoka - whose sound design forSilent Hill 2is gut-wrenchingly brilliant - will be returning to compose some of the music onSilent Hill F. In addition, the script for the project was written by Ryukishi07, the creator of the fascinating cult classic visual novelsHigurashiandUminekoWhen They Cry.
These two are more than qualified to work onSilent Hill F, and that has me hopeful. But beyond that, I sincerely believe thatwhat thisSilent Hillrevival needs is some new blood. The remake was good, sure, but I’d much rather see some more original games. A new direction for the series, taking its core concepts of psychological horror and translating it to a brand-new setting.Silent Hill Flooks to be exactly that, and I’m excited to see what new themes it chooses to explore.
