What This Means For Shrinking Season 3
Two Seasoned Actors Have Joined The Fold
Both incoming actors seem well-suited to join theShrinkingcast, asthey have ample experience both on long-running television series and in projects that have the same blend of comedic and dramatic tonesas the Apple TV+ series. For instance, Isabella Gomez is likely best known for her role in the 2017 Norman Lear rebootOne Day at a Time, which boasts a similar blend of tones despite being a relatively straightforward sitcom and ran for four seasons and a total of 46 episodes.
One Day at a Time, which ended in 2020, also starred Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Marcel Ruiz, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rita Moreno.

Sherry Cola has even more experience under her belt. Not only has she portrayed the prominent recurring character Ashley in the recent Netflix romantic comedy seriesNobody Wants This, she played one of the main characters in the Freeform dramaGood Trouble, a sequel series toThe Fostersthat ran for five seasons and 88 total episodes between 2019 and 2024. She has also previously displayed her ability to blend pathos and humor in the 2023 comedy movieJoy Ride, in which she starred opposite Ashley Park, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu.
Sherry Cola And Isabella Gomez Could Stick Around On The Show
The Shrinking Cast Could Grow
Considering what a good fit they are for the show,it is entirely possible that either Sherry Cola, Isabella Gomez, or both could stay on the series beyond season 3. WhileShrinkingseason 4 is not a guarantee, the fact that season 3 was renewed so quickly does imply that viewership is strong, and may not flag for years to come. Should that be the case, it is likely that the cast could either expand or face major departures, potentially necessitating the return of their characters either in a recurring or series regular capacity.
Ted McGinley’s Derek… was brought on as a recurring character in season 1 before being bumped up to the main cast.

The show has already set a precedent for recurring characters coming back with more central roles, as Ted McGinley’s Derek, who is the husband of Liz (Christa Miller), was brought on as a recurring character in season 1 before being bumped up to the main cast in season 2. Similarly guest stars Gavin Lewis and Neill Flynn, who play Alice’s (Lukita Maxwell) friend Connor and Paul’s (Harrison Ford) patient Raymond respectively, were upgraded from being season 1 guest stars to recurring characters in season 2.
Our Take On The Shrinking Season 3 Cast Announcement
The New Season Looks Promising
There is a lot of pressure on season 3 to properly follow up onShrinkingseason 2. While season 1 was well-received, earning a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, its follow-up did even better with a near-perfect 97%. Both seasons also earned matching 88% scores from audiences. While this shows that viewers may not have responded to the new season as well as critics did, it stillsets a precedent that the first two seasons have maintained the same level of solid quality.
While the new season has the capacity to potentially push the show’s audience score past the 90% threshold on Rotten Tomatoes, its 97% Tomatometer score does not leave much room for improvement as far as critics are concerned. If this results in a severe dip for the upcoming season, this could damage the potential longevity of the show. However, the fact thatShrinkingseason 3 is assembling such a capable cast shows thatthe creators are doing what they can to make sure the show continues to uphold the same standard of qualityas the first two seasons.
One review that helped propel the second season to such a solid Rotten Tomatoes score is the writeup fromScreenRant’s own Mae Abdulbaki, who said that the show has “easily become one of my favorite comedies of the year.“Read her 9 out of 10Shrinkingseason 2 reviewhere.
