James Gunn has announced a new animated theatrical movie for theDC Universe. This is in addition to an extensive slate of upcoming projects, including the animated seriesCreature Commandos, which will kick off the DCU when it debuts on Max in December 2024, and the live-actionSupermanreleasing in 2025, which will be the DCU’s first movie.Gunn has promised that there will be connectivity between the animated and live-action stories, ensuring that every story, regardless of the medium, is an important part of a cohesive and exciting superhero universe.
On X/Twitter,Gunnhas now shared thatDynamic Duo, an animated movie about Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, has been greenlit by DC Studios/Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, and will be released in theaters. Check out Gunn’s post below:
He also revealed that the feature-length movie will be made by Swaybox Studios using a cutting-edge blend of animation, puppetry, and CGI.Dynamic Duo’s script is being written by Matt Aldrich, whose previous work includes Pixar’sCocoandLightyear. The DC movie is being produced by 6th and Idaho, the production company ofThe Batmandirector Matt Reeves.
