Ridley Scott is now set to develop a new Apple TV+ series calledHigh Wire.Scott has mainly been known for directingin the film industry, with his most recent being 2024’s long-awaited sequelGladiator II. The filmmaker is also the mastermind behind theAlienfranchise and the Oscar-nominated filmThe Martian. Despite his influence in the movie sphere,the director has dabbled in television. He made his first foray on the small screen when he executive produced the seriesNUMB3RSfrom 2005 to 2010 and has produced works such asThe Terror.
PerDeadline, Scott is entering theTV world again with a new Apple TV+ series calledHigh Wire. This series will be based on the thriller novel of the same name by bestselling author Candice Fox. The director’s label, Scott Free, will produce the project, with Simonne Overend signed on to executive produce. There are no writers or stars attached at this time.

Fox’s novel was originally published in September 2024. The standalone thriller is set in the Australian outback, telling the story ofa former soldier named Harvey Buck who is racing against time to save his dying girlfriend. While on the journey, he encounters a traveler named Clare Holland, who becomes stranded when her car breaks down. Harvey offers Clare a ride, but a raucous journey ensues wherein the pair are forced to commit a series of crimes.

High Wirewill not be the first of Fox’s novels to be adapted for television. The two-seasonPrime Video seriesTroppoadapted two of her novels,Crimson LakeandRedemption Point.Tropporeceived positive reviews, getting a 100% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes in its first season. This is a promising sign forHigh Wire, which will give Fox’s work the opportunity to be shown on another major American streaming service. Plus, Scott’s involvement would further increase the interest inHigh Wire. However, it seems that the project is just in its early development, so it will take some time before the project can be fully conceived.
