Resident Alienseason 4 will need to continue one of the show’s longest-running storylines, but if it’s completely resolved, then it opens the door for a forgotten arc that hasn’t been a factor for a while. The return of Harry Vanderspeigle’s (Alan Tudyk) original storyline could be great news forResident Alienseason 4, although it wouldn’t be quite so thrilling for the residents of Patience, Colorado. However, given the excitingending ofResident Alienseason 3, it only seems like a matter of time until Harry’s backstory is once more brought to the forefront.

Alan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeiglehas been at the heart ofResident Aliensince the sci-fi dramedy began back in 2021. He can quite often dart between villainy and heroism, although more recently, he has been endlessly trending toward the latter. AlthoughHarry will likely begin the upcoming season sidelined by the Greys, his inevitable liberation could easily kickstart the conclusion of a massive storyline, and resurrect an old one.

The Greys' Defeat In Season 4 Would Mean Harry’s Species Once Again Becoming A Threat

Harry’s unnamed species started Resident Alien as a massive danger to humanity

Resident Alien’s Grey Aliensdoubled down on their antagonistic reputation in season 3. Although Harry and the others successfully thwarted attempts to transform the Earth’s atmosphere to make it inhabitable only for the Greys, the diminutive extraterrestrials aren’t going anywhere. They will continue to be an overarching threat inResident Alienseason 4, but the time is surely rapidly approaching when they are defeated once and for all. When that happens, Earth still won’t be safe, asHarry’s species would presumably reassert their claim to the planet.

Harry’s original mission was to kill all humans on Earth, with his species sending him to carry it out.

It’s already been revealed that Harry’s species (which still hasn’t been properly named) once aimed to rid Earth of all human life due to their unsustainable practices causing the death of the planet. They eventually cede their claims to the Earth and hand the rights over to the Greys, who want to take the planet as their new home. So, although defeating the Greys inResident Alienseason 4 may seem like a perfect victory, all it would likely do is restore Harry’s species as the story’s primary villains.

Why Harry’s Species Surrendered The Earth To The Greys In Resident Alien

The Tudyk-led sci-fi dramedy has only hinted at the real reason

Resident Alienhas yet to fully explain why Harry’s species gave up the Earth to the Greys. Tudyk’s character has hinted via his inner voice that the two species have clashed several times, but Harry’s people always come out on top. So,fear of the Greys doesn’t sound like a genuine motive. Instead, what’s more likely is that Harry’s species deems the Earth in safer hands with the Greys than with humans and that it’s just as good of a solution as killing the planet’s native population firsthand. Humans can’t breathe in Grey atmospheres, so they would still die.

Resident Alien Season 4 Is Adding A Dark Twist To This Character Who Has Already Suffered Enough

Some Resident Alien characters have suffered more than others, but the show’s upcoming run is gearing up to put one figure through even more distress.

Harry’s species is a galactic guardian race that prioritizes the safety of planets rather than the lifeforms that live there. Given that Tudyk’s character is the first of his kind to develop emotions, it’s understandable that the rest of his kind can operate so coldly. Regardless, although they don’t have a great relationship with the Greys,Harry’s species could still have a deep respect for how well the Greys treat their homeworldsand how harmoniously they manage to coexist with their local environments. So, this would make them better occupants of Earth than humans in the eyes of Harry’s people.

How Resident Alien Can Avoid Harry’s Species Coming Back To Kill All Humans

Harry will need to provide a compelling argument for Earth’s survival

Despite the threat Harry’s species could pose to humanity inResident Alien’s future, their presence would actually be brilliant for the show’s lore.Resident Alien’s main character is still the only member of his race to appear onscreen. So, a storyline that brought them back in a more direct way would allow viewers to learn exponentially more about Harry’s backstory and how his species operates. Plus, it would mean Harry would need to attempt to defend his new home from the people he once saw as the only group to which he belonged.

One of the only solutions would be for Harry to argue on humanity’s behalf why the planet’s population deserves to live.

It’s clear from his comments thatHarry still has a great affinity for his native people. So, he probably won’t want to turn against them, nor will he want to betray Asta (Sara Tomko) and the rest of his human family. Therefore, one of the only solutions would be for Harry to argue on humanity’s behalf why the planet’s population deserves to live, and how they can change as he has done. He has been on the planet for a long time and knows all of humanity’s best and worst qualities, which may help influenceResident Alien’s future.
