10Owen Strand

Moves Back To New York To Help NYFD

Rob Lowe led9-1-1 Lone Star’s castin its pilot season, and his character Owen Strand has been present in every episode since. The key characteristic of Owen is that he’s a fixer; to feel useful, Owen needs a project to focus on. At the start of the series, the 126 required an overhaul that Owen was more than happy to oversee. Over the five seasons, his projects have fluctuated between work matters, people, and even a horse named Thunder.

Though he’ll leave behind his family in Texas, he’ll be glad to have a whole department to treat as his next fixer-upper.

Now, Owen’s latest project is Judson“Judd”Ryder (Jim Parrack), his former lieutenant who suffers from alcoholism. Owen even moved in with Judd at the end of9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5, episode 10, but he isn’t Judd’s saving grace.OnceOwen realizes he’s not needed in Texas anymore, he’ll reconsider the New York Fire Department’s offerto move back and become Fire Chief. Though he’ll leave behind his family in Texas, he’ll be glad to have a whole department to treat as his next fixer-upper.

9Tommy Vega

Beats Her Breast Cancer And Retires

Tommy Vega (Gina Torres) has been a pillar of9-1-1: Lone Starsince her appearance in the season 2 premiere. Though her storyline coming into season 5 indicated her romantic relationship with Pastor Trevor Parks (D.B. Woodside) would be her biggest development,9-1-1: Lone Starinstead gave her an emotional rollercoaster. After proposing to Trevor, Tommy breaks up with him so he can move home with his daughter. Without any time to catch her breath, Tommy is diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5, episode 6.

8 Best New City Options For 9-1-1’s Second Spinoff

Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear are developing a new 9-1-1 spinoff set in a different city following the cancelation of 9-1-1: Lone Star after season 5.

9-1-1: Lone Starhas killed characters in the past, but Tommy has too many loose ends that demand she survive. Once her treatments begin to take effect, Tommy will realize what’s important to her in life. Instead of temporarily stepping down from the 126,Tommy will retire from her role as paramedic captainand focus on staying home with her daughters. Tommy previously discussed how her late husband’s life insurance is enough to support the family, so she will opt for quality time with her children once her health is stable.

8TK Strand

Legally Adopts Jonah And Embraces Fatherhood

TK’s many near-death experiences in9-1-1: Lone Starhave given him perspective in life. Seemingly on a whim, he proposed to his boyfriend, Carlos Reyes (Rafael L. Silva), and the two married in the season 4 finale. Since then,TK has made it clear that he’s ready for fatherhood, while Carlos has been occupied with solving his father’s murder.

Since the murder mystery came to a close in9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5, episode 9, Carlos no longer has reservations regarding fatherhood. At the same time, TK’s half-brother, Jonah, is displaced now that his father has been arrested. TK and Carlos will battle for custody and adopt Jonah. On the off-chance they lose the custody battle, TK and Carlos will look into adopting another child to raise as their own.

7Carlos Reyes

Continues His Work As A Texas Ranger

Carlos Reyes began the series as a patrol cop, but he showed great detective skills that caught the attention of the Texas Rangers, a law enforcement agency that holds jurisdiction over the entire state of Texas. His father, Gabriel (Benito Martinez), was a Ranger who encouraged Carlos to follow in his footsteps. Ever since he lost his father just before the9-1-1: Lone Starseason 4 finale,Carlos traded in his police uniform for a cowboy hat.

Carlos was consumed by his father’s murder for the majority of9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5, focusing on chasing dead ends so often that his marriage with TK struggled.

Although he wrongly accused his partner Sam Campbell (Parker Young) initially, the two took down their corrupt chief and brought closure to Gabriel’s homicide case. While Carlos is still struggling with grief, he and Campbell will continue their partnership and rise up the ranks of the Texas Rangers.

6Judson “Judd” Ryder

Overcomes His Alcoholism And Regains Custody Of Charlie

Judd, the lone survivor of the mass casualty event that took down the original 126 crew, has arguably had the most development in the series— for better or worse. After his wife Grace (Sierra McClain) left9-1-1: Lone Starfollowing season 4, Judd turned to alcohol to cope with her absence. Judd previously suffered from suicidal ideation, and being completely alone in9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5 sent Judd spiraling into his past darkness.

8 Characters Who Still Need To Return Before Lone Star Ends

9-1-1: Lone Star is officially coming to an end after season 5, but there are still several characters who need to return before its final episode.

Still, Judd is a fighter. It would be impossible to overcome his addiction in mere weeks, but9-1-1: Lone Starcould include a time skip to show him later down the line, once his daughter Charlie has moved back home.9-1-1: Lone Star’s finale can fix Grace’s exitas well by having Judd confirm she’s coming home. Judd graduating his probation status as a 126 firefighter and earning a sobriety chip would be a great note to end on.

5Paul Strickland

Becomes Acting Fire Captain Of The 126

Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith) made waves with his first appearance in9-1-1: Lone Starwhen Owen revealed he is the first transgender character in the9-1-1franchise. As ashow created by Ryan Murphy,9-1-1: Lone Starincluded a diverse cast from the beginning with a narrative explanation built in. Unfortunately,Paul was sidelined for most of the series, with only a handful of character-centric moments.9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5 began to remedy this by awarding Paul the lieutenant position.

After Owen moves back to New York, he’ll need a replacement to take over as fire captain. While Judd seemed like the obvious choice from seasons 1-4, his battle with alcoholism takes him out of the running while he’s still focused on recovery. As such,Paul will rise from lieutenant to acting captain after Owen leaves. Whether he maintains the position or not will likely be left to interpretation.

4Marjan Marwani

Becomes Pregnant And Rebrands Firefox

Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam), similar to Paul, was a trailblazer as the first Muslim main character in the9-1-1franchise.It makes sense for her and Paul to have a bond that rivalsthe best friendships on TV, with each of them being the other’s closest friend. Paul was even the emcee at Marjan’s surprise wedding in9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5, episode 10.

Now that she’s married,Marjan will set down permanent roots in Texas.9-1-1: Lone Starwill likely end with Marjan finding out she’s pregnant, but the social media star“Firefox”would never give up firefighting for good. She and her husband have already made it clear that Marjan will return to the 126 after giving birth, but it’s likely she will use her Firefox account to share news of her life in the meantime.

3Mateo Chavez

Moves In With Nancy

The original"probie"of the 126 was Mateo Chavez (Julian Works), an actor who played a troublemaker in the original9-1-1before becoming a main character in the spinoff.Though Mateo originally began as comic relief, he soon found his footing and became the heart of the 126 thanks to his passion for firefighting and fierce loyalty to the firehouse. In9-1-1: Lone Starseason 2, he even earned a love interest in paramedic Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker).

For most of the series, Mateo has lived with Owen after his previous home blew up in a gas leak explosion. When Owen leaves for New York, Mateo will likely take the next step in his relationship with Nancy. Either Owen will leave the house to him and Nancy moves in, or Mateo lets go of the past and moves in with Nancy at her place. Alternatively, the underrated9-1-1: Lone Starcouple will find a place of their ownto purchase together.

2Nancy Gillian

Becomes Official Paramedic Captain Of The 126

Nancy Gillian has been present since9-1-1: Lone Star’s pilot, but the show didn’t realize her character’s potential until the second season. Nancy was a greatside character that became an important protagonistin9-1-1: Lone Star. She and Tommy formed a close bond, with Nancy being the reason Tommy got screened for breast cancer. In her absence, Tommy recommended Nancy take over as acting captain.

Though she feared her readiness to be acting captain, her experience and expertise would fortify Nancy as she accepts her authority as paramedic captain.

Once Tommy retires, Nancy will transition from acting captain to permanent captain, joining Paul to lead the 126 into a new age. She and Mateo will develop their relationship, but having them engaged or married by the end would feel too rushed. Nancy and Mateo living together while she adjusts to her new role will be exciting enough. Though she feared her readiness to be acting captain, her experience and expertise would fortify Nancy as she accepts her authority as paramedic captain.

1Wyatt Harris

Continues As The Voice Of Austin Dispatch

Wyatt Harris (Jackson Pace) suddenly appeared in9-1-1: Lone Starseason 3 as Judd’s long-lost son, but his character has been expanded over the years. Wyatt’s aspirations have shifted over time, with him initially interested in a tech internship before discovering his dream to be a firefighter, only for that dream to be abandoned after a serious accident leaves him unable to use his legs.9-1-1: Lone Starseason 5 gave Wyatt a new calling, coincidentally filling the vacancy left by Grace at Austin Dispatch Center.

Wyatt’s dispatcher role in9-1-1: Lone Starhas been criticized, but he has proven in his few scenes at dispatch that he brings the necessary empathy and understanding to be a great operator. Since it’s been confirmed that Grace will not return for the9-1-1: Lone Starfinale, Wyatt likely won’t leave his post. While Wyatt probably won’t change much, the9-1-1: Lone Starseries finale will hopefully give each character the ending they’ve earned.
