Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocketplayers can expect to see more content for the game in the coming couple of months. The new game launched early in November, giving players a new way to collect Pokémon cards. While the app currently features online battles and ways to show off your collection to friends, it’s still missing some key parts of the TCG experience, such as trading. Also, whiledatamines have suggested a timeline for future releases, The Pokémon Company had yet to provide any firm details on when players can expect more cards.
ThePokémon Trading Card Game PocketOperations team recently provided updates via the officialPokémonwebsite on card trading and future booster pack releases. The developers confirmed thatmore booster packs would be added toPokémon TCG Pocketby the end of 2024.

Additionally, the development team is planning to adda feature that allows “certain cards” to be traded starting in 2025. More cards will “gradually” be eligible for trade in the future. Other new features are also in development but weren’t detailed in the post. These features will be detailed closer to their release date.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Trading Will Change The Game
How Trading Is Implemented Will Add New Wrinkles To Gameplay
The announcement that trading will be coming in early 2025 is huge news forPokémon TCG Pocketfans. Trading is literally in the name ofPokémon Trading Card Game Pocketand the social features in-gmae currently include an inactive button that says trading will be coming soon. The major question is what cards will be eligible for trade; willPokémon TCG Pocketlimit the trading feature to common and uncommon cards, or will it limit trading toPocket’s coolest Genetic Apex cards, such as rare gold star cards or better?
Collectors will want the ability to trade rare cards, but that also comes with some severe drawbacks. For instance,a secondary market will almost assuredly pop upwith the addition of trading rare cards. The potential of people paying money for access to rare cards might be enough for the developers to pause and determine if there’s a need to regulate these trades or prevent fans from making an unfair trade.

Our Take: We Can’t Wait To Trade With Friends
Trading Will Be The Only Way To Fill A Collection
Personally, I’ve had weird luck withPokémon TCG Pocketpulls. While I’ve collected doubles of several illustration rare cards, I’ve yet to score a single double gold star or rarer card. However, several of my real life friends have immersive art cards they’d love to give me if they were able to. So, I can’t wait to see how trading gets implemented withinPokémon TCG Pocket.
The timeline for new cards should also help keep players engagedas they start getting more and more doubles. As someone who’s only spent money on the premium pass, I’ve already collected over 160 of the 226Genetic Apexstandard cards, and I’m guessing by next month I’ll have almost all the non-alternate art cards in my collection. More cards for December seems like the perfect timing for some new chase cards inPokémon TCG Pocket.
