A powerful electrically-themed Legendary from Generation 8, Regieleki makes for a tough 5-Star Raid boss inPokémon GO, in which assembling a specific type of counters to target its weaknesses is essential. Added all the way back in April 2023, the Proton Pokémon hadn’t made a return to the game since; until now, anyway.

Among a bunch of important Pocket Monsters inPokémon GO’sMax Out Finale event, Regieleki is just one of the tough-to-beat contenders inNovember 2024’s Raid Boss schedule. With a particularly high Attack stat, you’ll be quickly taken out if you go in with the right team. If you head in with a correctly adjusted team, you’ll be able to add another strong Legendary to your Pokédex.

Regieleki’s Weaknesses & Resistances

Ground-Types Only

As a pure Electric-type Pokémon, Regieleki’s only weakness inPokémon GOisGround-type attacks. This is similar to its vulnerabilities in the mainline games, but super-effective attacks inGOdo 160% damage. Only having one weakness may sound restrictive for casual players who may not have many Ground-types in their arsenal, but there are plenty of counters evolved from even common Pokémon that make putting a decent team together fairly easy.

You’ll need a Raid party of at least three players to beat Regieleki. However, five players would be a safer bet.

Using any Ground-type counter with the same manner of attack also adds a 20% STAB (same-type attack bonus), making it ideal to beat the boss within the Raid’s time limit. As for which Pokémon not to use, Regieleki is resistant to Electric-, Steel-, and Flying-type attacks. Each of these moves only deals 63% of normal damage, leaving you open to having the clock run out quickly and making you fail the Raid altogether.

Best Counters For Regieleki & Its Moveset

A Grounded Team

Against Regieleki in its latest 5-Star Raid inPokémon GO, the best counters are strong Ground-types with decent attacks of the same types in its moveset, includingLandorus,Mamoswine, andExcadrill. If you’ve beaten theDynamax Drilbur Max Battle, this is the perfect time to evolve your new Drilbur and make use of its higher stats as an Excadrill. Whether you’re a diehard player who already has these three Pokémon ready, or a casual who barely has any Ground-types, you’ll find a plethora of counters with full movesets in the table below.

Mud-Slap

Earthquake

Regieleki’s moveset is very pure to its Electric typing, only including Electic-type moves – Thundershock, Thunder, and Zap Cannon – along with some Normal-type attacks: Lock-On and Hyper Beam. With this, there shouldn’t be much worry around what moves it will actually use in the Raid, since Electric-type attacks won’t be very effective against Ground-type counters anyway. Just keep in mind to avoid counters with types that make them vulnerable to Electric moves. For example, Kingler can use Mud Shot, but its Water-typing means it will be quickly wiped out with a couple of Thundershocks or Thunders.

Can Regiekli Be Shiny?

Not The Most Stylish Addition

Regieklican be Shiny inPokémon GO. This means that when you take on the Raid, there is a chance you’ll be able to encounter an alternatively-colored variant when you go to its catch screen. In Regiekli’s case, the rings connecting its limbs and the bottom section of its main body will be white instead of blue.

For Shiny hunters, this will be slightly disappointing since there isn’t too much of a difference, but it is still a must to hunt if you’re a keen collector. 5-Star Raid bosses have a one in 20 chance of being Shiny, however, so you may need to try a few times to find one. Just remember Regiekli’s weakness against Ground-type attacks to exploit with counters, and victory in this challengingPokémon GOraid will be yours for the taking.

Pokémon GO

Created by Niantic, Pokémon GO is an augmented reality RPG where players can wander around catching Pokémon as they pass by various landmarks in real life.
