5-Star Raids featuring Legendaries are some of the most challenging bossesPokémon GOplayers can expect to face, and Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia are no exception. The special forms of Dialga and Palkia are native to the Hisui region, Sinnoh’s original name, and these versions are just as powerful if not more so. In addition, the Origin versions have access to strong exclusive movies too. Just like with any other mighty foes in the latestRaid schedule forPokémon GO, you’ll need the right selection of fine-tuned counters to win.
Both Origin Palkia and Origin Dialga have weaknesses just like their base versions do, so there is plenty of room for strategy for both you and any other player you might want to partner up with. Each Legendary’s dual typing gives them a broad moveset, however, so you need to be sure you don’t pick a counter that could be quickly wiped out in its own right. The chance to defeat and catch these Legendaries is one of the highlights of playing during theAll into the Wild event, so you don’t want to miss out.

Origin Forme Dialga Moveset & Weaknesses
InPokémon GO, Origin Forme Dialga has two weaknesses:Fighting and Ground-type attacks. The same as with base Dialga, these two attack types inflict 160% damage. Thanks to its dual Dragon and Steel typing, it has quite a lot of resistances, including Bug, Electric, Flying, Normal, Psychic, Rock, Steel, and Water, that make any moves of those types deal only 63% damage. For casual players, this really narrows down the selection of counters you may use against this type of boss, but there are plenty of decent non-Legendary options you can find listed below.
Pokémon GO Interview: How The Wild Area Global Event Brings New Mechanics to Pokémon Go & How It Differs From Previous Live Events
Screen Rant talked with Pokémon GO’s live event marketing manager about the upcoming Wild Area Global event and how it differs from other events.
Origin Forme Dialga is even more resistant to Grass- and Poison-type attacks, only inflicting 39% damage on the boss compared to normal. This is one of the reasonswhy Dialga is considered better than Palkia. Moreover, Dialgia has a broad selection of attacks in its moveset. In addition to Metal Claw, the Temporal Pokémon can also use Dragon Breath for its Fast Attacks. As for Charged Attacks, Dialga’s Origin Forme can use Iron Head, Thunder, Draco Meteor, and theexclusive move, Roar of Time, which has a huge Damage rating of 160.

Origin Forme Palkia Moveset & Weaknesses
Lots Of Type Coverage
Like Dialga, Origin Forme Palkia has two weaknesses, but are insteadFairy and Dragon-type attacksinPokémon GO, due to its dual Dragon and Water typing. Both types of attacks also deal 160% damage to both of Palkia’s forms, although it doesn’t have as many resistances as Dialga. It’s easy to think being part Water-type would make Palkia weak to Electric moves, but its Dragon side cancels that out. In the game, Origin Forme Palkia is 63% resistant to Steel attacks while it only takes 39% damage from Water- and Fire-type moves.
You will need a Raid party of at least three players to beat either Origin Palkia or Dialga. However, five players would be the safest bet.

The Origin Forme has the same moveset as base Palkia, except for itsexclusive move, Spacial Rend. The Spatial Pokémon can use two Dragon-type moves as its Fast Attacks, Dragon Breath and Dragon Tail. As for Charged Attacks, along with Spatial Rend, it can also use Aqua Tail, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, and Draco Meteor.
Origin Forme Dialga Best Counters
Fighting- & Ground-Types
The best counters to defeat Origin Forme Dialga’s Raid inPokémon GOinclude reliable Fighting- and Ground-types likePheromosa,Lucario, andLandorus. The key behind each counter is that you need to pick a Pokémon of those types who can also use moves of those same types, resulting in a 1.2x STAB (same-type attack bonus). In long, drawn-out battles against 5-Star bosses, you need as much extra damage in the allotted time as you may get.
Counter
Super Power
What you need to be sure to avoid is using counters that may have a reliable moveset, but are fragile due to being weak to one of Dialga’s attacks. For example, Terrakion is in theory one of the highest DPS counters you could use against Origin Forme Dialga, but its dual Rock and Fighting typing make it vulnerable to the boss' Steel-type Iron Head. It’s far more effective to use the counters from the list above so you’ve got a long-lasting team that can also deplete Dialga’s health at the same time.
Origin Forme Palkia Best Counters
Fairy Over Dragon
The best counters to take into battle against Origin Forme Palkia inPokémon GOare Fairy-types or those that can use Fairy-type attacks, includingXurkitree,Gardevoir, andHatterene. Xurkitree is a pure Electric-type, but its high Attack stat as an Ultra Beast makes it a powerhouse when using the Fairy-type Dazzling Gleam. For other members, it’s ideal to use Fairy-types using the same manner of attack, so you can get that essential STAB (same-type attack bonus).
Charm
Play Rough
If you have powerful Dragon-types in your arsenal rather than any of the Fairy alternatives in this list, they can still be useful. However, you should note that any Dragon-types you use will be vulnerable to Palkia’s four Dragon-type moves. Spacial Rend is its most powerful attack at 160 Damage, so it will quickly dispose of those like Salamence or Garchomp. Nevertheless, remember to battle Origine Forme Dialga and Palkia with counters that target their respective weaknesses for Fighting and Ground, along with mostly Fairy for the latter, and victory in thisPokémon GORaid will be yours.
