A new season has arrived inPokémon GO, but it’s the same old Team GO Rocket returning in September 2024, including the tough Rocket Leader Arlo. He will pick three Pokémon out of a possible seven in each battle. While regular Rocket Grunts can be taken down fairly easily by a wide range of teams, it is vital to use Pokémon that are super-effective against the Rocket Leaders.

To face any of the three Team GO Rocket Leaders this month - Arlo, Sierra, or Cliff -you need to have first beaten at least six of the various Rocket Grunts, each one providing a part of a Rocket Radar. Once you have completed this, you can find Arlo by looking for PokéStops that have been taken over, or by tapping on Rocket Balloons in the sky. As in previous months, all of Arlo’s Pokémon will be stronger Shadow versions.

Defeating Rocket Leader Cliff in Pokémon GO in September 2024 will reward you with a very rare Shadow Pokémon to add to your Pokédex challenge.

Arlo’s Team In Pokémon GO (September 2024)

Strong Second And Third Options For Arlo

While there are lots ofchanges acrossPokémon GOas part of the new Max Out season, Arlo’s team remains the same as it did in August 2024. Every time you face him, he will lead with the Rock/Bug-typeAnorith. His next two selections will be one out of three Pokémon each time.

All of Arlo’s possible second Pokémon will provide a tough test, whether it’s the Water/Flying-typeGyarados, the Poison/Flying-typeCrobat, or the Steel/Ground-typeSteelix. The final Pokémon you will have to face to defeat Arlo will either be the Psychic/Fairy-typeGardevoir, the Normal-typeSnorlax, or the dangerous Bug/Steel-typeScizor.

The Best Counters For Arlo In Pokémon GO (September 2024)

Magnezone Is The Key To Victory

Arlo is tough to counter, but I’ve been able to comfortably defeat him with a specific lineup. As he will always start with Anorith, it is best to start with a Rock, Steel, or Water-type Pokémon that will quickly be able to defeat it. A Steel-type such asMagnezoneis a great option, as it will also have an advantage if Gardevoir is selected as Arlo’s final Pokémon. As Magnezone is a dual Steel/Electric-type creature, it can be set up with one attack of both types, making it super-effective against Crobat and Gyarados.

I also always include a Fire-type Pokémon, likeCharizard,to take down two of Arlo’s strongest options, Steelix and Scizor, with Fire being the latter’s only weakness.

For the final slot on your team, selecting a strong Fighting-type Pokémon, such as Lucario or Machamp, can help in case Arlo selects the Normal-type Snorlax, who can take a lot of damage from any Fighting-type attacks.

Once you have defeated Arlo alongside the other two Rocket Leaders, you will earn the opportunity to faceTeam GO Rocket Boss Giovanni. Arlo has a strong team once again in September 2024, but by using the right types of Pokémon to counter them, such as Magnezone, you can easily defeat him inPokémon GO.
