Peacemakerseason 2 gets a new update from one of its main stars and how it will work in James Gunn’sDC Universe. While DC Studios is mostly approaching the DCU timeline as a reboot, one DCEU release is making its way over into Gunn’s new superhero franchise, which is the Peacemaker TV show. WithPeacemakerseason 2set to premiere on Max this August, many are curious about how the DC TV drama will operate under Gunn’s DCU, with the filmmaker now also operating as the co-CEO for DC Studios.
One of thePeacemakercast members who will be back for season 2 is Danielle Brooks, who plays Leota Adebayo, andScreenRant’sAsh Crossan recently caught up with the actress for her new film,A Minecraft Movie, getting an update on her return to the DCU. When Brooks was asked if having Gunn steering the entire DCU franchise changes the vibe of everything with thePeacemakerseries, the Academy-Award-nominated star reflected on the transition from season 1 to 2 while also teasing what’s coming up:

Danielle Brooks: You know, when we first did Season 1 of Peacemaker, it was during the pandemic, so we didn’t even do press for it. We didn’t have a premiere. The fans took to it, and they loved it. And now, James is taking over the DC Universe, so I don’t know what’s going to happen with Season 2.I do know that it’s done so well, and I’m excited for the response. I’m excited for the fans to watch it and see it. And I do feel like there’s more…It’s almost like when we were doing Orange Is the New Black on Netflix. We were the first kids to really make Netflix, and I kind of feel that same wave with James Gunn taking over. Peacemaker feels like that cool kid – one of his first babies in the DCU. So I’m excited to see how that expands and grows. But I can’t wait to see Superman.
What Danielle Brooks' Peacemaker Season 2 Comments Mean
Even thoughPeacemakerseason 1was conceived as a spinoff fromThe Suicide Squadduring the DCEU era, the Max series and Gunn’s team-up film were both affected by the global pandemic, meaning both projects weren’t given the same spotlight as they would have during a regular marketing tour. With that in mind, Brooks' comments about howPeacemakerseason 2 has a bigger opportunity in comparison to when the show premiered in 2022 are extremely valid, especially as the series now exists in a whole new universe.PeacemakerSeason 1 was mostly self-contained until the season finale, where they had several Justice League cameos.
However, with the direction ofPeacemakerseason 2, they are already setting the stage for crossovers with the overall DCU franchise, particularly since the show is coming back a month after theSupermanmovie releases in theaters. Brooks' comments about how the new season feels bigger are likely because of Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. showing up in thePeacemakerseason 2 cast, which already showcases the connectivity across Gunn’s DCU franchise. There is also the overall mystery of howPeacemakerseason 2 is going to explain how the universe shifts from the DCEU to the DCU.

Our Take On Danielle Brooks' Peacemaker Season 2 Comments
While time will tell what’s happening in thePeacemakerseason 2 story, there is a lot to be excited about with Brooks' comments since DC Studios is finally getting closer to the show’s big summer premiere.
AsPeacemakerseason 2 is in post-production, it remains to be seen when DC Studios and Max will release a longer first look at the new season. Hopefully, morePeacemakerseason 2 updates will emerge sooner rather than later.
