AnInfinity Nikkiplayer may have taken things too far after their custom character picture was removed from the game.As a game (mostly) about fashion,Infinity Nikkiallows players to share snapshots of their custom looks with other players. Players have been using these photos for everything, from social interactionto sharing puzzle hintsto just having fun with different outfits and poses - but one player decided to use a custom photo as a jumpscare, and was surprised when they logged back in to find it removed.

Reddit userMilkshacksshared their frustration on theInfinity Nikkisubreddit aftertheir photo of a “ghost Nikki” was deleted from the game. Their character wears a sort of spectral, dingy-looking dress, posing with arms outspread in a dark hallway near the Military outpost. Sporting long, white hair, and dark, reflective glasses that almost give the impression of glowing eyes, at first glance, it looks more like a scene from a horror game than a fashion game - but then again, that’s the idea.

In Infinity Nikki, Jumpscares Might Just Be Too Much

“Ghost Nikki” Terrifies Players

The original poster was upset to find their image, which they undoubtedly worked hard on perfecting, was removed, and opened up a dialogue with the community. While they admitted they hadn’t read the submission rules, the image is pretty tame, and undeniably creative, so the removal didn’t make any senseto them. They explained in the comments that it seemed like overkill when the image showed up in their gallery completely blacked out, with the word “ILLEGAL” stamped on it in capital letters. Many players in the comments agreed, likesleepytimeHoney, who appreciated the level of detail revealed when zooming in on the image.

Still, other players admitted that the photo was creepy, creativeor not. And honestly, until you zoom in and see how the original poster constructed the look, it is more than a little terrifying. Usersnyexzadmitted they were creeped out by the photo, and suggested it was probably taken down to keep the game family-friendly - even though it is technically rated T for Teen by the ESRB.

No matter how you slice it, though, it’s abundantly clear the original image violated the terms of service. CommenterAyanhartshed some light on the rules, which do explicitly state thathorror content is not allowed onInfinity Nikki.

So, while you can certainly make the argument that even horror content has its place, the user was appropriately warned that it would be deleted. That explains the takedown, butwas it really justified?

Our Take: Should The Image Of A Ghastly Nikki Be Allowed?

Infinity Nikki Goes To Some Dark Places

I can understand the need for terms of service when it comes to sharing photos in any online game, especially one that’s meant to be cozy. But at the same time,I don’t thinkInfinity Nikkineeds to ban horror content by name. The horror effects players can achievewith the in-game camera, while potentially terrifying, are all pretty tame. There’s nothing in there that’s going to keep me up at night, at least not after I zoom in.

Infinity Nikki: Daily Checklist (Activities You Should Do Every Day)

These daily Infinity Nikki activities will allow you to collect Diamonds quickly, which you can turn into Crystals to use in Resonance Banners.

Besides that,Infinity Nikkihas a surprisingly deep storythat occasionally goes to some pretty dark places. The death of the Wishing One, the phenomenon of people suddenly falling into comas - these are arguably horror-adjacent, and could fit right into a horror game with slightly different framing. A slightly scary picture isn’t going to take players out of its story, cozy as it can be; on the contrary, it might immerse them more deeply into it.

Still, there’s little point in arguing: the decision has been made, and the removal has been handed down. The removal can’t be appealed and the photo likely won’t be reinstated any time soon, so this is more of a hypothetical debate. But I hold that, as a game that encourages player creativity, even slightly off-tone creations should be allowed inInfinity Nikki.
