Marvel Studios has announced theAvengers: Doomsdaycast in a slow-burn live-stream reveal video.
Ever sinceAvengers 5becameDoomsdaywith the casting of Robert Downey, Jr. as Doctor Doom, speculation has been rampant about who will make up Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to take on this new, multiversal threat. Now, Marvel Studios is revealing the cast for the first of the two-part MCU team-up from directors Joe & Anthony Russo.
In a video live-streamed onMarvel’s YouTubeand social media accounts, the cast was slowly revealed over six-and-a-half hours as a camera panned along a row of cast chairs. More than 8 million fans tuned into the broadcast.

At the end of the video, Downey, Jr. walked along the row, took his seat, shushed the audience, presented the chairs and walked off. A text card revealed that the movie has gone into production. This also includes a slightly altered logo for the movie with a less embossed design and tempered green tone.

Hemsworth was last seen inThor: Love & Thunder, which promised the God of Thunder’s return. Pascal, Kirby, Moss-Bachrach and Quinn will make their MCU debut in this summer’sThe Fantastic Four: First Steps. Mackie, Stan and Ramirez were all last seen inCaptain America: Brave New World, with Bucky heading upThunderbolts*in May. Russell, Pugh, Harbour and John-Kamen are all reprising their Phase 4 roles in that Dark Avengers movie, where Pullman is the villain.

The cast for Avengers: Doomsday is slowly being revealed as five confirmed cast members from Thunderbolts* lend credence to character death theories.
Wright’s Shuri took on the mantle of Black Panther inWakanda Forever, where she (alongside Duke) showed down against Huerta Mejia’s Namor. Rudd was last seen inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Simu Liu is reprising his role as Shang-Chi for the first time in live-action since his solo movie,Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, released in 2021. Hiddleston’s Loki variant has his own show for two seasons, where he transformed to become the God of Stories with oversight of the whole multiverse.
The X-Men are a force inDoomsday. Grammer played Beast inX-Men: The Last Stand, and returned in an alternate universe inThe Marvels' credits scene, which set up Stewart’s Professor X returning following an alt-universe version inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. McKellen and Marsden haven’t been seen since 2014’sX-Men: Days of Future Past, while Cumming was last inX-2in 2003, and Romijn inThe Last Stand.Tatum’s Gambit was a long-gestating Fox movieand he finally debuted in last year’sDeadpool and Wolverine.
While this is a massive cast of 25, it won' be the end of specualtion of who will appear in the movie. Reports have stated there could be as many as60 characters inAvengers: Doomsday. With this a multiversal story, all bets are off on who could appear. The past few years have seen Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Hugh Jackman and more iconic early-2000s superhero actors reprise their roles in the MCU - and the same could happen here.
That’s before getting to the original cast. Notable names missing are Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbach, Tom Holland, Brie Larson, Jeremy Renner and all the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Additional to the revealed cast,Chris Evans has been reported to starin an unconfirmed role (either Steve Rogers or an alternate version of Captain America is likely).
Avengers: Doomsday Will Be An Epic End To The MCU’s Multiverse Saga
2026’sAvengers: Doomsdaywill be the beginning of the culmination of The Multiverse Saga, which encompasses Phases 4-6 of the MCU (everything released between 2021 and 2027). It will be followed byAvengers: Secret Warsin 2027. Little is known of the plot, but the scale is clear given the breadth of the cast.
The original plan forAvengers 5 & 6involved Kang the Conqueror, but after allegations of assault against actor Johnathan Majors, the story was reset. The Russos, the duo behind mega-successesCaptain America: The Winter Soldier,Civil War,Avengers: Infinity WarandEndgame, came onboard as directors and the villain became Doctor Doom.
