LOUD vs EG: Is the third time the charm for Evil Geniuses?

LOUD and Evil Geniuses battled once in the VCT Americas regular season and then again in the league playoffs' Upper Bracket Final. The Brazilian team won both encounters, but EG managed to take a map off of them each time. Now, they’ll look to take two and get that elusive victory.

EG has been on a roll since they qualified for the VCT Americas playoffs. They have emphatic wins over Cloud9, NRG, FUT Esports, and DRX. If there is a time for them to prove their worth again, it will be against the 2022 VALORANT Champions.

LOUD is never a team to trifle with, however. They won the entirety of VCT Americas and earned a bye straight to the VCT Masters Tokyo playoffs. They’ve shown signs of weakness in the past, but have never been a team to let their guard down for long. LOUD vs EG is going to be a good one.

LOUD vs EG full match recap

Map 1: Fracture

Evil Geniuses wasted no time in showing their aggressive attacking strategy.Leave it up to Demon1to get stunned twice, stay alive, and net a 3K in round two. After four straight rounds, tuyz respondedwith a quick 4Knear Dish to get LOUD on the board. Then Demon1 shut down any momentum. A 4K ended with a quick double-kill clutch to keep EG flying. That helped them reach halftime with a lead of 9:3.

LOUD looked to prove that Fracture can be an Attacker-sided map. Two fast rounds went in their favor as they attempted to close the gap. EG responded, though, reaching double digits as Jawgemo took down three. Another 3K by Jawgemo pushed their lead even further. Thedefense was simply unbreakableand the first map of LOUD vs EG goes to the latter 13:7.

Map 2: Ascent

Ascent started in a similar fashion to how Fracture ended. Evil Geniuses were on defense and absolutely smothered any early attack plan LOUD had in place. Two Flawless rounds gave way to four in a row for EG. Although LOUD managed to get a few rounds of their own, Demon1’s Operator and movement was a major threat. Before the first half got too far out of hand, cauanzin snags a 4K that includes some Odin spray to make halftime 7:5 in favor of EG.

Evil Geniuses did not slow down when sides switched. Their attack side was relentless and LOUD looked uncharacteristically lost. They allowedEthan to get four with the Aresand Jawgemo to take out three to bring them to 10. Thenyou have tuyz waitingas Jawgemo stands in front him and he whiffs, showing maybe a bit too much patience. And in an expected beatdown, EG took Ascent 13:5 to win the series.
