Taylor Sheridan has taken the TV world by storm in the past few years, but the future of his latest series,Landman, is unknown, which is worrying, givenYellowstone’s status.Sheridan’s TV showshave received praise from critics and viewers alike, which includesYellowstoneandLandman. The latter series has a 78 percent score on the Tomatometer onRotten Tomatoesand is consistently on Paramount+’s Top TV Shows chart. However, recent comments from one of the drama’s cast members raise some concerns regarding whetherLandmanwill return for a second seasononce its first ends in early 2025.

Paramount+ releases new episodes ofLandmanon Sundays — “The Crumbs of Hope,” the season 1 finale (aka episode 10), is scheduled for Sunday, August 09, 2025.

Kelsey Asbille as Monica Long Dutton and Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton in Yellowstone, and Patrick J Adams as Mike Ross in Suits.

Landmanfollows Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris,a landman at a large oil company in West Texas. The rest of the Paramount+ TV show’s cast includes other big names, such as Jon Hamm as Monty Miller, Demi Moore as Cami Miller, and Ali Larter as Angela Norris, while Jacob Lofland and Michelle Randolph star as Tommy and Angela’s children. Together, they all play a group of dysfunctional characters, just like any other Sheridan series. Halfway throughLandmanseason 1, the show’s plot is as complex as ever, and it might need a second season to tell its characters' full stories.

Landman Season 2’s Future Is Uncertain

Jacob Lofland Addressed The Status Of Landman Season 2

Unfortunately,Paramount+ hasn’t renewedLandmanfor a second season,as of the writing of this article. Perhaps the streaming service is waiting until after the finale to decide or announce the TV show’s fate, but in the meantime, everything is up in the air.Cooper actor Jacob Lofland addressed the uncertainty surroundingLandmanseason 2during an interview withScreen Rant. Regarding the series' future, Lofland shared:

“Completely unofficial, I can’t say yay or nay, and I have no idea. All I can say is I hope, more than anything, that we go back to working as quick as we can on it, because it’s a blast, and I love making it, and I think this story needs to be told, and I think people are going to love it … So I’ve just been so curious, waiting on Taylor [Sheridan]. Hopefully, we get to season 2, and start reading and see what’s in store for Cooper.”

While Lofland’s comments might be disheartening, they also don’t give a definitive answer, leaving the door open for optimism concerningLandmanseason 2.So, it could still happen. Lofland, along with otherLandmanactors, have expressed hope for more episodes once season 1 ends. For now, though, fans just have to be patient and wait and see what the future holds for the Billy Bob Thornton drama series. The bad news is thatLandmanisn’t the only show whose fate is unknown.

The Future Of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Is Currently Confusing

Yellowstone Season 6 Might Still Happen

Unfortunately, the futures of other TV shows in the Sheridanverse, likeYellowstone, are also uncertain. FollowingKevin Costner’s exit fromYellowstone, Paramount canceled the neo-Western drama, meaning it was set to end after season 5. However, the season 5 finale was marketed as just that, a season finale instead of a series finale. Consequently,it seems as ifYellowstoneseason 6 might be in the cards. One other update continues to make the show’s status confusing, though.

Patrick J. Adams' New TV Show Universe Is Better Than A Mike Ross Return In Suits: L.A.

Suits fans who loved Patrick J. Adams in the series should look ahead to his next project instead of hoping for a Mike Ross cameo in Suits: L.A.

PerDeadline,aYellowstonespinoff featuring Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeleris in the works at Paramount. So, ifYellowstoneseason 6 does happen, neither Beth nor Rip will be in it. Perhaps the spinoff is season 6, and Taylor Sheridan and co. just enjoy confusing their audience. Whatever the case, onceYellowstoneseason 5 ends, the Dutton family’s story will continue in some shape or form.

Why Landman Already Deserves A Second Season

Landman Is Already Golden Globe-Nominated

Despite Jacob Lofland’s comments, it would be surprising if Paramount+ didn’t renewLandmanfor a second season. The TV show has been a ratings success, which is a good sign regarding its future. According toVariety,Landman’s premiere accumulated 14.6 million viewers within its first week, the best-ever performance for a Paramount+ original series. It’s also already nominated for a Golden Globe.

Billy Bob Thornton was nominated for a Golden Globefor Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama for his performance as Tommy inLandman. He has some tough competition (Donald Glover, Gary Oldman, Eddie Redmayne, etc.). But, to be nominated when season 1 hasn’t already finished airing yet is quite impressive. Based on all these factors,Taylor Sheridan’s new showLandmandeserves a second season (and it’s likely going to get it).
