TheMarvel Cinematic Universemay be getting closer to finally having a better idea of when theX-Menreboot will happen at Marvel Studios. With Phase 5 almost being over,the MCU timelineis getting closer to kicking off Phase 6 in 2025. However, as the MCU is building towardsAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars, Marvel Studios is seemingly getting closer to knowing when they are bringing the X-Men into the fold.
During a new interview withOmelete(viaDiscussing Film,)Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige finally offered up the first significant update on the direction of theX-Menreboot that is currently in the works. While not revealing an exact release plan for the X-Men characters' MCU arrival, Feige stressed that it will be afterAvengers: Secret Wars, sharing the following (translated):
When we were preparing for Avengers: Endgame years ago, it was a matter of getting to the grand finale of our narrative, and then we had to start all over again after that. This time, on the road to Secret Wars, we already know very well what the story will be up until then and beyond.The X-Men are an important part of that future.
What Kevin Feige’s X-Men Comments Mean
Based on Feige’s latest comments aboutthe X-Men in the MCU,it wouldn’t be shocking if they were priming the mutants to be the leading forces of Phase 7. While The Multiverse Saga has been incredibly ambitious, it’s hard to deny that this era has had a lot more downs than up in comparison to The Infinity Saga. At this point, Marvel Studios is clearly wanting to finish The Multiverse Saga without overcrowding their slate of movies and TV shows.
It would also allowtheX-Menmoviethat is currently being written by Michael Lesslie to get more time to perfect the vision of the mutants' first MCU film. Assuming that theX-Menreboot is the film that will nab the June 03, 2025 release date that is currently saved for a mystery Marvel movie,summer of 2027 could be one of the biggest ones yet for Marvel Studios afterAvengers: Secret Warswraps up The Multiverse Saga. Unless they are saving theX-Menfilm for August 08, 2025, the July date would be a proper way to kickoff Phase 7, which many believe will be The Mutant Saga.
Our Take On Kevin Feige’s X-Men Comments
While time will tell wheretheX-Menrebootwill happen, it makes sense to have the mutants play a more pivotal role afterAvengers: Secret Wars.Since the final Phase 6 movie is rumored to lead to a soft reboot of the MCU, that would explain why mutants may have a bigger presence in the franchise going forward. Hopefully, more updates on the MCU’sX-Menapproach will be revealed sooner rather than later.
