July 17 is going to be a big day forCyberpunk 2077in general, as the game is finally coming to Mac platforms, provided that you have M-series Mac hardware. All the extras typically found in a major Mac release are in, including spatial audio for AirPods and Metal FX upscaling through Apple, and FSR through AMD. This is great news forCyberpunk 2077fans, as it’s coming directly after the gamehitting the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, and its launchon the Switch 2 platform.
This is a stark contrast to the launch ofCyberpunk 2077, which wasn’t quite ready for prime time on several older platforms. Now the game has been fixed basically across the board, hosted a major DLC expansion, and is available on more stable platforms. It’s not quiteaNo Man’s Skyredemption arc, but everything turned out OK in the end.

Cyberpunk 2077 Comes To Mac On July 17
With Upscaling Options
Cyberpunk 2077will launch on Mac platforms on July 17th, after a “2025” window announcement via Apple’s MacBook Pro stream last year. Note that this will include the launch of theUltimate Editionon the Mac, including thePhantom LibertyDLC expansion. Also note that again, you’ll need an M-Series Mac (M1-M4) with 16GB of RAM, but you’ll be able to utilize MetalFX, including the enhanced version of Metal 4, later in 2025.Owning it on a storefront where it already existswill give you the Mac edition, but you can also buy it directly on the Mac App Store.
The launch of Metal 4 will continue topush Apple’s focus on gamingthis generation, which has included hosting a number of AAA ports, such asResident Evil 4 (Remake)andAssassin’s Creed Shadows, the latter of which had full launch day parity with PC. Hopefully, everything with thisCyberpunk 2077port launch will go smoothly, but based on prior Mac ports, things are looking up.
More Platforms Are Always A Good Thing
Especially For Third Party Games That Are Free to Proliferate
When third parties can expand the reach of a game and make it available on just one additional platform, it’s a win for everyone. While everyone loves to tout exclusives to showcase the power of any particular platform, third parties are generally freer to move around the landscape and pepper in ports wherever they see fit.Cyberpunk 2077is one of those occasions, as the game is now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and Mac; as well as the now-dead Stadia.
Where willCyberpunk 2077go next? Well, considering its post-launch success,we’ll likely get a sequel at some point, potentially with some of the same characters from the original. Whatever direction CD Projekt Red decides to go with, I just hope they wait until it’s ready to launch it.
