Rose portrayed Ares, Santino D’Antonio’s personal bodyguard who faces John Wick in the second installment, but like all the other assassins who try to hunt down John, Ares doesn’t survive the fight. After her time intheJohn Wickfranchise, Rose appeared in many films, includingThe MegandThe Doorman.The actor has a new action thriller titledDirty Angels, due to come out on December 13.

While promoting the new Martin Campbell movie about an all-female commando unit fighting terrorists in Afghanistan, Rose spoke toScreen Rant’s own Liam Crowley about her thoughts on exploring Ares further in theJohn Wickuniverse.The actor admits that she “would love” to explore her character deeper, and that she’d personally like to see Ares' backstory. Oh, I would love that. I mean, I don’t know if that would happen, but I mean, she was fantastic and I loved speaking sign language and I love the sort of intricacies of that and what her whole kind of shtick was. But yeah, I don’t know, I would love to see the backstory of her.It would probably be vastly different to the one that I created doing the role,which is always an interesting thing. Whether she was born with mutism is unclear, though it’s very likely that Ares lost her voice at some point, given physical mutilation is often a punishment for assassins.

Ares' Return Could Bring Back The D’Antonios

There are multipleJohn Wick-related projects in the works. Set during the events ofJohn Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum,the upcomingBallerinaspinoffwill follow Ana de Armas' eponymous assassin and see her cross paths with Reeves' Baba Yaga. At the same time, aJohn WickTV show, a fifth installment that takes place afterChapter 4, and a Caine (Donnie Yen) spinoff are all in various stages of development. There’s also rumored to be a Sofia spinoff and a Wick and Mr. Nobody crossover, though those are far from confirmed.

The door is wide open for the franchise, and with futureJohn Wickprojectstaking a special interest in expanding the universe horizontally,it’s very possible for Ares to show up in a potential project. The deadly assassin could also bring back the D’Antonios, which would explore an untapped area in the franchise. With Rose interested in exploring more of her character, there could be a future for Ares after all.
