WhileIndiana Jones and the Great Circlewas released too late to be considered for the The Game Awards 2024, the newest entry in the iconic action-adventure franchise is a hit with fans. The Xbox exclusive is the final major release of 2024 and has, so far, lived up to the excitement many had for a major Indiana Jones AAA video game.
On the gaming subreddit, Redditorgoldenboy2191expressed their amazement at the game and how much fun it has been — even forgetting its title in their excitement. This sparked a conversation between players about what they liked, loved, and disliked about the game. However, most criticisms were presented as quirks that didn’t stand in the way of enjoyingIndiana Jones and the Great Circle. Developed by MachineGames,Indiana Jones and the Great Circleis the first Indiana Jones game to be released since 2009’sLego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues.

Fans Pointed Out Plenty of Features That Make It A Worthy Indy Adventure
A far cry from a family-friendly Lego game,Indiana Jones and the Great Circleis a first-person action-adventure game driven by a classic globe-trotting story many fans saw as at least equal to the original movies. RedditorSlippy_27wrote,“It’s the third-best Indiana Jones story/thing that has ever been made, across all mediums.“While tapping into the set pieces and puzzle-solving inherent in the movies, the developers were praised for utilizing the interactive medium to create sequences that couldn’t be done on film. For instance, a P.T.-inspired side quest basically creates anIndiana Jones horror gamethat can take the player further into Indiana Jones' psyche.
Should Indiana Jones and the Great Circle get a sequel?
Having garnered widespread acclaim and landed on many publications' Top 10 of 2024 lists, I already find myself looking to the future of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and whether it should get a sequel. As a longtime fan of the franchise, I think MachineGames has done a fantastic job on the game in recreating a lot of the adventurous feel of the movies, particularly the whip mechanic and puzzle solving. Admittedly, there have been a few things that have struck me a tad awkwardly, including the Harrison Ford face design sometimes feeling a tad uncanny valley, but I’m absolutely open to seeing the studio make a sequel. I think it’d also be a fun idea for each game to start with a recreation of an iconic setpiece from the previous movies, much like Great Circle started off with Raiders of the Lost Ark’s opening.
Combining old and new alike, fans praised voice actor Troy Baker’s lead performance as Indiana Jones. Many agreed Baker should get an award for his Harrison Ford-esque performance, and while he wasn’t up for one this year, he was given high praise by Ford himself. The infamously grouchy actor joked on-stage at The Game Awards that if he knew Baker would be so good he would’ve done the voicework instead. Critics agreed with fans, asIndiana Jones and the Great Circle’sMetacritic score broke amajor record for Xbox.
