The two characters cross paths with one another after Juliette returns home to Silo 18 while Bernard sets out to leave. Just when they are on the verge of seeing eye-to-eye with one another, they get stuck in Silo 18’s airlock as flames engulf the entire chamber. Juliette will certainly survive the fire, but Bernard’s fate seems ambiguous after theApple TV+ sci-fi show’s season 2 ending sequence.
Losing Tim Robbins In Silo Season 3 Would Be A Shame
He Has Been One Of The Primary Drivers Of The Series Since Season 1
Siloseason 1’s early episodes established how unforgiving its post-apocalyptic world was when main characters like Allison and Holston suddenly met with grim fates. After their sudden demise, Rebecca Ferguson took over as the show’s main hero while Tim Robbins stepped in as the primary antagonist. Since Ferguson’s Juliette and Robbins' Bernard have remained two of the biggest drivers of the series. Both characters are well-written and have had compelling journeys since the show’s early moments.

Although many aspects of Apple TV+’s Silo remain unknown, the show has dropped subtle clues and details to reveal when the show’s events take place.
While Juliette has gone from being a regular Mechanical worker to one of Silo 18’s most influential figures, Bernard has gradually become more relatable despite the darker elements in his characterization. Since viewers have grown immensely attached to Bernard, especially after his complex season 2 arc, it would be a shame if a character like him does not show up in Silo’s future installments. Throughout season 2,Tim Robbins did an incredible job of capturing the morally gray elements in Bernard’s character. It would be disappointing if viewers do not get to witness his hinted redemption.
Given how Juliette dons a firefighter’s suit while Bernard only wears a regular cleaner’s suit in the final scene, it seems unlikely that Bernard’s suit will be able to protect him from the high temperatures in the airlock.
Unfortunately,Siloseason 2’s ending seems to hint that the Tim Robbins character’s story might have reached its natural conclusion. InHugh Howey’s originalSilobooks, Bernard dies in the airlock fire, which leads to Juliette becoming Silo 18’s new mayor. Given how Juliette dons a firefighter’s suit while Bernard only wears a regular cleaner’s suit in the final scene, it seems unlikely that Bernard’s suit will be able to protect him from the high temperatures in the airlock. Owing to this, Bernard’s death almost seems certain, but it is still hard not to hope he will return in Silo season 3.

Both Played Admirable Characters Who Died In Season 2
Tanya Moodie’s Judge Meadows barely had any screen time inSiloseason 1. Even in the original books, the Judicial, as a whole, was not treated as an important element of the overarching story. InSiloseason 2, however, Meadows gradually rose in the ranks to become one of the most fascinating characters in the series after she agreed to help Bernard contain the brewing rebellion in Silo 18 and asked him to let her leave.Her tragic death also revealed Bernard’s vulnerable side, highlighting how conflicted he was growing about his role as Silo 18’s leading figure.
Silo’s showrunner, Graham Yost, hinted at Bernard’s season 2 fate (viaThe Wrap) by saying, “I will also say to those who have read the books, Bernard dies at the end of the book, he’s gone. So I would just say that. No one is safe in this show, as we showed in season 1.”
Even Juliette’s father, Doctor Pete Nichols, had been one of the most likable characters in the series since season 1. His story became even more compelling in season 2 when he started defying Silo 18’s rules and thinking more about the welfare and happiness of the people in the underground city. Unfortunately, like Tanya Moodie’s Meadows, Iain Glen’s Pete also met a tragic fate when he sacrificed his life to help the Mechanical citizens execute their final plan against Bernard.

Both characters' deaths left viewers with a deep sense of loss because, despite their limited screen time, they had unexpectedly become central to many poignant story beats in the series. If Bernard, too, passes away,Siloseason 3would be bereft of some of the series' most layered and emotionally resonant characters. After season 2’s events, even the capacity in which Steve Zahn’s Solo will return in season 3 remains uncertain, making it hard not to wonder whether the show’s future seasons will be able to fill the void left behind by so many beloved characters.
Silo’s Character Trend Is Forgivable Thanks To Rebecca Ferguson
She Can Single-Handedly Carry The Show
The absence of so many likable characters inSiloseason 3 would be sad, but the show will remain watchable as long as Rebecca Ferguson is its lead. So far, theDunestar has perfectly embodied Juliette Nichols, capturing her strong will to survive and save her people from a grim fate. Juliette’s arc seemed a little underwhelming in season 3 because it progressed at a snail’s pace until the final episodes. However,now that Juliette has returned to Silo 18, her story will likely be more compelling than it ever was.
The flashback fromSiloseason 2’s ending also paves the way for several new players to join the show’s roster in season 3. Although little seems to be known about the new characters, the flashback establishes that the Congressman and Helen will be great additions to the show’s expanding cast. The promise of Juliette’s return and the involvement of many new characters suggestsSiloseason 3 will potentially be as good as seasons 1 and 2, if not better.
