Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton CrewIt’s easy to write offStar Wars’newest villain as a Darth Vader replacement, though one who ultimately can’t be redeemed. As seen inSkeleton Crew, Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood was not the Jedi hero he was made out to be, and was instead a greedy pirate captain with Force abilities who’d grown bitter toward the rest of the galaxy. However, it’s quite possible that Jod is just the villain of this particularStar Warsstory, and could end up mirroring someone more like the MCU’s Loki.
InStar Wars: Skeleton Crew,Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood is set up as an ally to the lost kids of At Attin, only to reveal his true colors as a pirate seeking the legendary treasure hidden on their home world. While his ability to use the Force is connected to a tragic past, there ultimately isn’t a redemption arc for Jod as many were likely expecting from this newStar Warsnow. However, that doesn’t mean redemption isn’t in the cards for Jod Na Nawood at some point inStar Wars’future, not unlike Loki in the Marvel Universe.

Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood Is Very Much The Villain Of Skeleton Crew
A Darth Vader Replacement Figure In More Ways Than One
From the very beginning ofSkeleton Crewwhen his band of pirates boards a New Republic freighter in the show’s premiere,Jod aka Captain Silvo is framed very much like Darth Vader, imposing helmet and all. Likewise, there’s some pretty intentional mirroring throughout the series, such as when Jod threatens the kids with a blue lightsaber. One frame in particular very much parallels Vader during the events of Order 66 at the Jedi Temple.
That being said, there isn’t a moment or opportunity where Jod gets to redeem himself.Jod still brings his crew to the secret world of At Attin to invade, intending to turn the planet’s citizens into his workers to keep the Old Republic mint going for an endless supply of credits. While he says he doesn’t want to kill anyone, he’s absolutely willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, believing that credits are the only truth in the galaxy in light of his harsh upbringing where he had nothing. Likewise, the one person who believed he had potential was Jedi who was killed right in front of him when he was just a child.

Skeleton Crew Theory: Jod May Actually Be More Like The MCU’s Loki
There’s Arguably Room For Redemption
Given his tragic history, it’s hard not to feel bad for Jod Na Nawood despite all the bad he does in the present. As such, one could argue that Jod’s a lot like the MCU’s Loki, the God of Mischief whose true origins as a Frost Giant were kept from him by his adoptive father Odin, leading to his bitterness and desire to claim the throne of Asgard for himself. However, Loki was only the villain inThorand 2012’sAvengers.
The 8 Biggest Theories I Have For Skeleton Crew Season 2 (If It Happens)
There are so many hopes and rumors for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 2… and here are the most exciting theories about what could happen!
Regardless of the version in the MCU, Loki eventually grows to become more of an anti-hero before becoming an outright hero at the end ofLokiseason 2, keeping the entire Sacred Timeline and branch realities together for the sake of his friends. As such, I’m inclined to believe that Jod is similarly the villain of just this recent story. There could be room down the line for Jod to find redemption if he were to appear inSkeleton Crewseason 2, or some otherStar Warsproject. After all, he’s presumably still alive by the end of the newStar Warsshow.

Does Skeleton Crew and Jod Have A Future Beyond Season 1?
Fingers Are Crossed
While ratings forSkeleton Crewseason 1 haven’t been the greatest upon its initial release, only time will tell if Lucasfilm decides overall engagement with the show is high enough to warrant a second season. The show itself was received some remarkable reviews, and many are hoping that the adventures of Wim, Neel, KB, and Fern will indeed continue (and the same goes for Jod). IfSkeleton Crewseason 2 does get greenlit,I can only hope that Jod will make a return and similarly start heading toward a path of redemption, something he arguably seems poised to do by the end ofSkeleton Crew’sfinale.
