The Bachelorproducers aren’t taking accountability for their many scandals, but at this point,I’m struggling to believe they’re not behind the issues that the franchise has facedand they won’t let go of the control to allow genuine stories to play out. Throughout the last several seasons ofThe Bachelorand its spin-offs, there have been issues at play that go well beyond the standard. While some earlier seasons of the franchise’s shows have seen cast members bring drama into the show during its off-season, the issuesThe Bachelorhas faced recently are a mess of their own making.

With shows likeThe Golden BachelorandThe Golden Bachelorettejoining the franchise whileBachelor In Paradisetook a hiatus due to the struggling relationships on the show and the difficulties the series was facing from previous scandals,BachelorNation has been looking forwardto seeing more of the franchise despite issues. The shows, however, have caused some major scandals to break out in recent months, leaving viewers struggling to trust the shows at all. Instead, they’ve been focusing on howBachelorproducers have let down their cast members, leads, and most of all,BachelorNation while creating their content.

The Bachelor Producers Have Been Behind Recent Scandals

They Haven’t Taken Any Accountability

AlthoughThe Bachelorseason 28had a happy ending for Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson, the show’s producers have shown that they’re under a tremendous amount of pressure to build ideal couples and keep the fanbase happy. With each season comes a new wave of pressure, as manyBachelorandBachelorettecouples have been unsuccessful in their relationships after the show. With the influx of pressure,Bachelorproducers have been doing everything in their power to ensure that things are picture-perfect forBachelorNation, even at the cost of their cast members and leads, as well as their dignity.

The Bachelor Producers Made Gerry Turner Take Their Fall

They Painted Him As The Perfect Guy

Throughout the press tour forThe Golden Bachelorseason 1,Gerry Turner was introduced as the perfect guy. Showing him off to the press andBachelorNation as the perfect picture of a father and grandfather, the widower was open about his life after the tragic passing of his wife, Toni Turner, a few years before. Though it was clear thatGerry was serious about finding loveonThe Golden Bachelor,he shared that he hadn’t been looking for a relationship or dating at all before his time as the lead. This point was emphasized by Gerry andBachelorproducers.

While Gerry’s past wasn’t something he was shy about, it became clear that he’d been lying abouthis relationships beforeThe Golden Bachelorduring the end stretch of the season. When Gerry was seen as a liar,BachelorNation was quick to turn on him, and subsequent events caused people to struggle with their perception of him. Gerry took the brunt of the hate from former fans, butBachelorproducers who changed his backstory to make him seem more palatable were the ones to blame. Allowing Gerry to take the fall,Bachelorproducers didn’t care about the hate he received.

The Bachelor Producers Aren’t Prioritizing Leads’ Safety

They Aren’t Vetting Cast Members Thoroughly

During the last seasons ofThe BacheloretteandThe Golden Bachelorette, there was some normal vitriol about the contestants as they moved through the experience, butthere were some bigger issues at play for Jenn Tran and Joan Vassos, as well. Jenn, the lead ofThe Bacheloretteseason 21, was met with a cast of guys who had been cast to be suitors for an entirely different lead, creating issues when they weren’t interested in Jenn outright. Devin Strader, who was Jenn’s final pick, seemed to be interested in her during the season, but went on to be quite disappointing.

WhenBachelorNation discovered that Jenn’s final pick Devin had a restraining order out against him from an ex, they dug into his past and were floored to find accounts of violence. Rather than the easygoing guy viewers saw on screen, Devin had been arrested for some incredibly violent acts, startlingBachelorNation. WhenJoan’s cast forThe Golden Bachelorettewas revealed,BachelorNation hoped things would be safer, but found that two of the men had restraining orders against them, as well. WithBachelorproducers ignoring or dismissing violent behavior, the leads can’t expect to feel safe on set.

Can The Bachelor Producers Let Go Of Control For Grant’s Season

Things Aren’t Likely To Change

AsThe Bachelorseason 29prepares to premiere, I’m struggling to see how things can change for the better whenBachelorproducers have allowed so many scandals to be part of their franchise. Rather than being upfront about difficult issues or trying to improve the way the show functions to keep cast members safe and happy,The Bachelorproducers have created a hostile, terrifying environment where it’s clear they won’t be taking care of their castafter the show ends. With so much uncertainty in how they’ll be treated, I wouldn’t trustThe Bachelorproducers to succeed with Grant’s season.

The Bachelor

A captivating reality TV franchise, The Bachelor and its spin-offs follow a single man or woman as they date multiple people over several weeks, eliminating contestants along the way. The goal is to find true love, culminating in a dramatic final rose ceremony where they propose to their chosen one, blending romance and high-stakes drama.
