Narutois one of my favorite anime series of all time. It’s one of the longest I’ve ever seen too, and outside a few filler episodes, there aren’t any moments I think could be better. From the beginning to the end,Narutois an action-packed thrill ride filled with great characters, a gripping story, and some of the best fights in any shōnen series.
It’s hard for any series to end well after hundreds of episodes, but when the Fourth Great Ninja War was in full swing, I thoughtNarutohad it in the bag. Unfortunately,Naruto’sending didn’t pan out to be everything I thought it could be. While Madara Uchiha was an unbelievably good villain, there was one moment that took all the promise out of the finale. If it wasn’t for this specific character, I think thatNarutowould have had one of the best endings of any series, full stop.

Naruto’s Ending Was So Close To Greatness
The Fourth Great Ninja War Was Coming To An Exceptional Close
Naruto: Shippudenwas so close to having an incredibly fulfilling ending. The Fourth Great Ninja was one of the most ambitious arcs in shōnen. It looked to bring dozens of important figures to the screen at once, showing off all of their skills together.Shippudenunited every known ninja from Konoha, the Kage, and every other character with even relative importance for the same fight.
The only way this could have made sense is if the characters had a reason to unite, andMadara Uchiha was that reason.Madara Uchiha is one ofthe strongest villains inNaruto. He might even be one of the best villains in anime. For most ofNaruto: Shippuden,he was a shadowy figure that nobody really knew anything about.

7 Strongest Mangekyo Sharingan Forms in Naruto, Ranked
The Mangekyo Sharingan is one of Naruto’s strongest and most iconic abilities by far, and here’s a breakdown of its strongest users, by far.
Obito was masquerading as Madara to great affect, causing everyone to become worried about the legendary Uchiha ninja. It was a great set-up that worked perfectly, as Madara died well before the current generation of ninja, giving him a much-needed air of mystery.

Madara Uchiha Is The Best Villain Possible
The Build-Up To Madara Was Worth It
Madara Uchiha is an insane character. He’s one of the strongest ninja of all time who has found a way to transcend death itself. He’s the reincarnation of Indra and arguablythe strongest Uchiha of all time. When he was alive the first time, only Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, could stand up to him.
When Madara came back through the Reanimation Jutsu, nobody could hold a candle to him. He wiped the floor with the Shinobi Alliance after being alive for just a few minutes, showing that even after death, Madara operates on an entirely different level.

I’ve seen a lot of anime in my day (over 200 different series according toMyAnimeList.net). I’ve watched a ton of series that tried to hype up their final villain. Most of the time, the villain that appears is a shadow of the person the main cast has been describing; however, Madara is different.
He was even scarier than any ninja could have described. Madara’s introduction to the series through his slaughter of an entire battalion showed exactly what the series was working with.
Madara vs. the Shinobi Alliance is one of the single greatest moments in anime. It wasone of the few times in the art form that a villain not only lived up to the insane hype surrounding them, but surpassed it.Madara Uchiha is the worst possible thing that could have happened to the Allied Shinobi Forces, and he was more than willing to show it.
Madara Isn’t Just Naruto’s Best Villain, He’s One Of Anime’s Best, And I Don’t Care About His Power
Naruto has too many memorable villains to count, but Madara rises above the rest to become one of the greatest villains in anime history.
I loved Madara so much that I felt like I was rooting for him. He’s one of thosevillains you can’t help but love. Like Toji Fushiguro fromJujutsu Kaisen,Madara Uchiha is almost too cool. I knew he was a bad guy the entire time, but I didn’t care. He was the perfect final villain forNaruto, and if it wasn’t for Black Zetsu, he would’ve been the ultimate final boss.
Black Zetsu Ruined Everything
He Was An Deus Ex Machina In The Worst Way Possible
Black Zetsu sucks. He was supposed to be an incarnation of Madara’s will, helping the Uchiha by acting as his eyes and ears when Madara was too old during his first life to run around. The end of the series reveals that Black Zetsu wasn’t an incarnation of Madara’s will, but Kaguya Otsutsuki. Madara excelled as the final villain inNaruto, pushing the main cast of characters well past their limits on several occasions.
After Looking at Every Naruto Shippuden Fight, I Can Say These 7 Are the Best
Naruto: Shippuden is known for having some of the best fights in anime, but which 7 stand out as the absolute best in the entire series?
After finally unleashing the Infinite Tsukuyomi, he was stabbed through the back by Black Zetsu. Madara was looking nearly unstoppable towards the end, and Black Zetsu’s betrayal seemed like the only way he could be killed off.His death felt cheap, unearned, and annoying all at once.Black Zetsu then revealed his true identity and used Madara’s body as a vessel to bring Kaguya back into the modern ninja world.
Kaguya Otsutsuki ruined everything that Madara had been working towards. He was the perfect final villain for the series in every way, and his death was made even worse by how easily it came. Kaguya herself is one of the worst parts ofNaruto. The entire series had revolved around the ninja from Earth, but the final villain was revealed to be an alien with powers the series had never seen before.
If Black Zetsu Wasn’t Around, Naruto’s Ending Might’ve Been Perfect
Madara Uchiha Would Have Been The Perfect Ending For Naruto
Madara Uchiha will always be one of my favorite villains in anime. He was the perfect final villain inNaruto, and if it wasn’t for Black Zetsu and Kaguya Otsutsuki, he would’ve helped endNarutoas it should have ended. Looking back, Madara was the perfect culmination of every ninja’s effort to strive for a better world.
While every ninja who fought for the good side wanted a world of freedom, Madara wanted the exact opposite, creating a perfect balance between good and evil.
Black Zetsu’s quick assassination of Madara betrayed everythingNarutohad been working towards.Madara Uchiha was everything the series had painted him to be and more. His death was a huge mistreatment of everything he strove to be. There aren’t many endings in anime that can be considered perfect, butNaruto’swas so close, and it’s mainly Black Zetsu’s fault that it wasn’t.
