Taking place after the events of “Merry Little Batman,” Gotham City finds itself reeling from the Joker’s attack, and Damian Wayne (a.k.a. Little Batman) is eager to get back into the fight. That’s going to be harder than it sounds, as Bruce now wants Damian to put the cowl aside and embrace the value of his secret identity. After a suspicious guest is found lurking around the Wayne New Year’s Eve Party, it’s up to Damian to find the balance between both of his personas and save the day yet again. See Little Batman in a new adventure from the film’s screenwriter, Morgan Evans, after catching the rerelease of the breakout movie in theaters this winter.
The cover, also by Mikel, is a recreation of the cover toBatman#404, by David Mazzucchelli, only it has received an adorable, all-ages appropriate makeover.

Batman: Year Oneis An All-Time Great
Year OneFound Excitng New Depths in Batman’s Origin
After theCrisis on Infinite Earths, DC began revamping their biggest icons for the 1980s, employing some of comics’ biggest names to do so. John Byrne reworked the Superman mythos from the ground up and George Perezbreathed new life into Wonder Woman.Frank Miller, hot off his run on titles such asDaredevilandRonin, was tapped to retool Batman’s backstory. Miller, who already had the classicBatman: The Dark Knight Returnsunder his belt, teamed with David Mazzucchelli forYear One. As the name implies, the story retells the early days of Batman’s war on crime.
In addition to chronicling Batman’s first year on the job,Year Onealso looked back at his origin. By the timeBatman: Year Onesaw print, the Dark Knight’s backstory was known to comic fans the world over, but Miller and Mazzucchelli managed to give it new and exciting layers that wowed fans. This commitment to exploring Batman’s origin is perhaps best seen on the cover toBatman#404, the first part ofYear One.The haunting cover depicts a young Bruce Wayne standing over the bodies of his dead parents. The cover made a mark on a generation.
Batman’s Lowest Moment Just Got a Cute Makeover
Batman’s Adorable Makeover Also Strangely Makes Sense
Despite the cutesy makeover, Mikel’s cover forLittle Batman: Month One#1 still manages to communicate the depth of the dilemma Damian finds himself in, as he struggles to reconcile being a hero with a secret identity.
Now, artist Jon Mikel has given this heart-breaking image a decidedly cute and wholesome twist. Much like Bruce on the cover ofBatman#404,Damian Wayne looks down, scared and confused. Whereas Bruce was slouched down, mourning his parents, Damian is left to ponder two life paths. Despite the cutesy makeover, Mikel’s cover forLittle Batman: Month One#1 still manages to communicate the depth of the dilemma Damian finds himself in, as he struggles to reconcile being a hero with a secret identity. I cannot believeBatman’smost heartbreaking moment got a cute makeover–and that it actually makes sense.
Little Batman: Month One#1 is on sale November 6 from DC Comics!
